Post your Season 1 outfit vs your current outfit

For me, I figured out the fit I liked pretty early on in Season 1, but my build has definitely evolved over time! I'm curious how everyone else's style has changed over time. If you weren't around for Season 1, then find the oldest fit you have.

This makes me really regret not taking more screenshots during the early days, I hadn't yet known how important this game would become to me... I think this is the earliest picture of what I first ran at launch, when I was playing the N-Zap like I did in the previous game. I still have a lot of experimenting to do with what I have now, but I think it's in a good place while I start getting into LUTI!

My first ever gear set for Inkbrush vs my latest gear set for Mint Decav. I picked a weapon from an entirely different class and somehow still managed to pick a brush, though, so I guess things don't actually change all that much.

Those are pretty disjointed, though, and I feel like I could say more about my old vs current Dynamo gear, since that's the weapon I felt really kept me interested in this game for a long while. I'll put them under a spoiler since the images already make responses fat enough lol.

Spoiler: Rosy Dynamo Gear Lore

This first set holds a pretty special place in my heart since it was the first set I concocted for my beloved Dynamo. The Red Hammertreads and Annaki Flannel Combo isn't exactly super original, but who cares, it looks cool. I also love having the humongous studio headphones with the surfcurl squished down under them, it looks so goofy poking out. Played a lot of games with this one. I actually still use it, just retooled for N-Zap instead of Dynamo!

Although, looking at the same thing for hundreds of games on end gets a little tiring, so halfway through my 5-Star Dynamo grind I decided to come up with a new fit. I used to have the Woolly Urchins Classic and Onyx O1STERS instead of my current Order Earring and Navy Enperrials, but the simple earring and sleeker shoes fit way more with the Ink-Wash Shirt. This is the build I currently use, and I don't have any plans to change it for the forseeable future. Please give us more earring options Nintendo I'm begging you on my hands and knees.

Oh my god I love this!

My first gear was pretty basic/"I just beat hero mode and got 3 slot items". Here's a picture with Marie :>

After that and deciding to main chargers/Liter I built myself this with gear seed checker and a bunch of chunks to change the primary ability.

Honestly, I like the second one a bit more, but the first one is the one I made in 2022 and I hold nostalgia to that time.
Both of these also inspired to make my inkling into my first OC :>

EDIT: I have more sets, though they are not that cool/I stopped liking the weapon I made the sets for. Also, mixing and matching is cool

This is the earliest gear set I remember using consistently for Machine. Thankfully, I was able to recreate it since I have some old screenshots and clips that helped with that.
I'm also pretty confident that not a single sub or main here is different from what I used at that time.

I have a lot more gear builds now, more than the game allows me to save even with one Splatoon Amiibo but this is what I most commonly use for vMachine.

This was my QR set this was actually my first set I completed I played with it a TON because I was big into stamper at launch (I didn't use this haircut though)

nowadays if you see me in game chances are you will see this fit I made for sorella its a basic mobility charge up build and I think it looks quite nice

beginning of chill season '23 vs now

the jr outfit was what got me into S+, although it appears i never screenshoted it so the exact build seems to be lost to time. although i do vaguely remember scrubbing the gear for quick respawn chunks (guess where those ended up)

My dream gear recently completed. If I'm not mistaken (I probably am), it wasn't until Splatoon 3 that you could swap out the main abilities. So this is exciting for me. You no longer have to compromise vis-à-vis style vs function. You can finally have the best of both worlds.

You are correct. Chunks were introduced in splatoon 2 but they only allowed the replacement of sub abilities. Replacing mains was new in 3 and thank god.
