Don't play Blackbelly. That is all.
No but seriously, I've seen this happen a lot and you need to use your specials before you grab the rainmaker if you can, unless its in a situation where it's not helpful.

I haven't been able to play it yet, But I can imagine how one-sided it is. Blackbelly is one-sided for every ranked mode though.
