unless your below S then you are trash and not good and shall be KICKED OFF THIS THREAD
Rude. I get the feeling that this is a joke but I could see it not reading like that to someone, or at the very least it making people below S dwell on some pretty negative trains of thought towards themselves even if you are joking.
I've seen replays of a different few people's gameplay who are below S and really, a lot of players below there are one or two changes or a little bit of experience away from being genuinely scary players. Literally one of the players on the team that won my tournament is C+ Rank and one of my good friends is B- Rank despite him being stronger than most players on this website! The issue is that neither of them want to play the Anarchy modes (or in the latter case Splatoon 3 in general) very often at all.
Me, personally, I love rank battles! They are suuuuuper intense and I’m only at S 522. I can’t wait to get S+, and then maybe X! What are your opinions on ranked battles, and what’s your highest rank, along with (X rank ONLY) your highest power/best badge? Everyone here is nice and sweet, so no need to feel ashamed!
I think they're fine, but improvable. I like that Anarchy Open exists as a more "casual" ranked mode but making people jump from that to Series or X Battle can stress people out, especially with how things used to be where having a high enough ranking is the difference between keeping your access to X Battle or not. The matchmaking in Open in particular is absolutely horrible as well. There's no reason I should go up against someone who spends the whole game painting and evading players one game and then go up against two top players at the same time the next game.
X Battle isn't bad. I haven't played it too much because again, pretty stressful, but it feels kind of like a messy soup if you're anywhere below 2000. You kind of need to be the one to hard carry your team if you want to see any kind of consistency below 2000. It's genuinely shocking to me because it feels like a lot of people down there are pretty close in skill level save for the occasional outlier that's way stronger than everyone else, outside of that everything is pretty consistent while simultaneously the average skill level below 2000 is lower than the average skill level of an Anarchy Open or Series lobby.
Once you get above 2000 in X Battle things get a lot better. Again I don't play the mode super often but my last play session I won like 10 out of the 12 games I played or something and reached 2400. I could totally have made higher seeing as how that play session went and the ones before it weren't too far off from that, but I don't feel super compelled to keep pushing it at this point. Maybe when I look super hard for another competitive group to join but I have a few life things to sort out before I get to that.
Anarchy Series is the one I've felt was best for matchmaking but I know a lot of people have run into games where their team gets sorely outmatched. I dunno though, once again I feel like I consistently get teammates that are at least reasonably close to my level? Of my recent play sessions I've only had one or two games where there's been enough of a gap for it to matter. I'm really glad that once you get to S+10 or whatever it doesn't matter anymore so you functionally have two casual rotations instead of one.
