Single zone splat zones?

This has been bothering me a lot lately, but almost every single single-zone SZ I've played lately has been a complete curb-stomp one way or another. It seems to me that on a lot of single-zone maps, it's almost impossible for the other team to get it back, since at higher ranks people will always ink the ground leading to the zone, making it impossible to land a surprise attack. I've been on both sides of this, and of 20+ single zone games only 1 was actually a competition.

I'm just wondering: is there anything my team or the other team should be doing differently? Every game being 0 - 90+ is really boring and I'm wondering if there's something I haven't thought of.

You need to wait and regroup, so don't go unless you have at least 3 people. Try luring them into approaching you and kill them in your own base, or have someone sneak into the splat zones while they're distracted. Just keep getting better and trying new stuff and you'll find ways to deal with them.
