So we now about this

Then, How do you explain this?

They seem to be too small to be fourteen years old
Kinda like the third or fourth stage

The Inkling life cycle and the Sunken Scroll of the young Squid Sisters are drawn in the same style
Uh... Not really. Compare the female Inkling's legs in that picture to those in-game. The in-game Inklings have clearly shorter legs. I wouldn't really think much of how the Squid Sisters look in that photo compared to the other Inklings, anyway.

Seeing as they were raised by their grandfather (at least I know nothing about their parents) and probably as agents, it makes sense that they were trained and were able to morph to their human form much earlier.

That seems like an over the top explanation for this, but it is one of the best things I read all day.

I personally just thing the artists didn't really care too much about the life cycle (Doesn't that image even say around 14 they gain better control of their humanoid form- so they can transform fully beforehand but probably can't hold it for too long) image and wanted Callie & Marie to look cute as kids.

They look like very different art styles to me, and the "squid kids" are really "teenagers" but seem to get called "kid" often enough, due to young age, so this doesn't really bother me.
