Splat Reeler:

Stats:

Damage:
Direct Max 80, Direct Min 60; Indirect Max 40, Indirect Min 30

Range: Bamboozler (3.9 DU)

Capacity: 12 Shots

Fire Rate: 2-3 frames slower than Splat Brella

Turfing Output: Similar to the Splat Brella

Hook/Bait: 50HP, (damage multiplier) 0.5 second duration, (10% ink) 5 second regeneration, Splatana Stamper vertical slash casting frames

-The Splat Reeler resembles a youth fishing pole, with a toy guppy as its hook.

-The Splat Reeler has a good weapon for finishing the job. (press ZR to fire main weapon) Solid player/hook mobility, line casting speed. (hold ZR to cast out hook for usage, & let go of ZR to reel that hook back to the player)

-Main weapon turfs decently, & hook turfs less. (hook inks a trail as it travels)

-Hook speed is set to middleweight swim speed. (hook slows down & floats above the surface in enemy ink/neutral terrain)

-Hook can't leave too far from its user, and the line has a moderate casting distance. (hook max travel distance from user = main weapon's max range)

-Capacity is good for the main weapon. The hook's ink consumption is also not bad, taking 10% per use. (hook detaches like a Brella canopy after its duration ends)

Light Reeler:

Stats:

Damage:
Direct Max 60, Direct Min 40; Indirect Max 30, Indirect Min 20

Range: .96 Gal (3.4 DU)

Capacity: 15 Shots

Fire Rate: 2-3 frames slower than Undercover Brella

Turfing Output: Similar to the Undercover Brella

Hook/Bait: 25HP, (damage multiplier) 0.25 second duration, (7.5% ink) 4 second regeneration, Carbon Roller vertical flick casting frames

-The Light Reeler is modeled after an archaic harpoon/grapple gun, with an arcade machine claw as the design for the hook!

-The Light Reeler has the weakest hook out of all Reelers, with the quickest duration. However, it is one of the fastest hooks of its class, being a lightweight that can travel through the user's own ink well, and alright in enemy ink. The fire rate is the fastest in its class, but is the weakest weapon, with the least amount of range.

Heavy Reeler:

Stats:

Damage:
Direct Max 85, Direct Min 65; Indirect Max 45, Indirect Min 35

Range: Ballpoint Splatling (Long Range; 4.4 DU)

Capacity: 9 Shots

Fire Rate: 2-3 frames slower than Tenta Brella

Turfing Output: Similar to the Tenta Brella

Hook/Bait: 75HP, (damage multiplier) 0.75 second duration, (12.5% ink) 6 second regeneration, Splat Roller vertical flick casting frames

-The Heavy Reeler resembles a fishing rod, with a clothing hanger as its hook.

-This Reeler has the slowest fire rate and hook, (hook is a heavyweight) but has the highest damage output and range in its class. Hook detaches after its 0.75 second duration. This means it sports one of the longest durations, but is the slowest to detach.

Marionette Reeler:

Stats:

Damage:
Direct Max 70, Direct Min 50; Indirect Max 35, Indirect Min 25

Range: Rapid Blaster Pro (3.6 DU)

Capacity: 18 Shots

Fire Rate: 2-3 frames slower than Recycled Brella

Turfing Output: Similar to the Recycled Brella

Hook/Bait: 100HP, (damage multiplier) 1 second duration, (15% ink) 5 second regeneration, Splatana Wiper vertical slash casting frames

-The Marionette Reeler resembles a stage prop holder, with an inkling puppet attached to it as the hook. (design of a fishing whip/staff, but in audio equipment form)

-The Marionette Reeler is a lightweight. It has higher damage than the Light Reeler, but less damage than the Splat Reeler, with range in between the two. This Reeler has the highest shot capacity of its class. On top of this, the Marionette’s lightweight puppet can travel for 1 second, making it the fastest hook with the longest duration. Despite its strengths, the Marionette outputs turf at the lowest rate for its class, and has the second slowest fire rate.

-The Marionette Reeler cannot detach its puppet. However, since the puppet itself resembles the look of an inkling/octoling, it can dip out of ink from squid form into kid form. To compare, the other Reelers can only depict their hooks in squid form. (puppet bears the likeness of its user)

Additional Notes:

Hook turfs a thin ink trail as it travels. So it’ll look deceiving when it is in team ink, whereas in enemy ink or on neutral ground it’ll ink areas but reveal itself by slowing down and floating above the surface.

-All tracking sub weapons/special weapons will not track hooks, exposing them as decoys.

-Hooks do not appear as squid icons on the map when they are damaged, so check the map!

-Hooks have object damage sound (like a sprinkler, squid beacon) when they are shot at or destroyed.

Hook Tactical Use-Cases:

-Hooks can cause players to pursue them, which can misdirect them to various locations. (money on a string effect)

-Hooks can be paired with a teammate to bait or pursue an opponent.

-Hooks can cause players to shoot, throw sub weapons, and divert their attention to it as a distraction.

Further Traits:

-This hook mechanic makes the weapon class standout in that it allows a user to draw opponents out in the open for better angles and open shots. Other mid-long range weapons don’t have a tool like this on their own, and tend to rely on their teammates to distract for them and position themselves for a good look/angle. That being said, opponents that decipher your decoy can counter this utility.

-Hooks that have map control will excel, being able to swim freely and deceive well. In situations where there isn't much ink to work with on the ground, it might be a better idea not to use the hook and just fire with the main weapon.
