Spyke's Gear fetching service is kinda useless

When I ordered some gear off of Spyke, I noticed that only the first sub-slot was filled and the other two were still unknown, though I'm more than 100% certain when I ordered it, it had 3 abilities I wanted.

What's the point in ordering the gear and paying the gimped price if the abilities are still rolled lol.

Yeah, sometimes you get screwed by Spyke (always, if you don't like how high his prices can get (30,000 FOR A T-SHIRT?! I KNOW IT'S GOT 3 SLOTS, BUT REALLY?!)), it's just the luck of the draw (I think).
Still, it's a nice way to (sometimes) get gear with abilities selected already (or just to get gear that won't show up in your game yet, if you're low level (in theory, not sure low-level players can afford some of the stuff you get at later levels at his prices without grinding enough to get to levels where it becomes a naturally occurring product in shops anyway)).

I never verified this, but isn't it the only way to get a reroll on an item you have already bought?
Like buying a gas mask from the store means you can't buy it again, but you can order it from Spyke as long as you can find it on another player.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the point of his existence.

He's really just there as a way for the low levels to get higher slot stuff earlier. Well, that and rerolls.

If you own the gear that you ordered, spyke will ask if want to swap the gear out.

That's the thing, the slots are still rolled for. I bought a shirt that should have had Ninja Squid + 3 Strength Ups and when I got it, it was only 1 Strength Up and 2 unrolled slots.

He doesn't give you gear with things already rolled, just the very first slot, making it useless because you'll probably reroll to get the other two you want.

But that's an accurate description of Spyke's clothing-procurement services too, isn't it? He jacks up the price, then rips you off by dropping the second and third sub-slots and making you pray that you get good rolls on them.
And when you don't, hey, there's someone who's willing to give you another chance to get what you're looking for: it's Spyke again, and all he asks is for a Super Sea Snail in return.
Wot's that? You don't have a Super Sea Snail? You can't even GET a Super Sea Snail because there haven't been any Splatfests yet? That's FINE, love, he'll give you one of his snails to help you out.
For 30,000. And it rerolls ALL the slots, not just the ones you don't like. And there's no guarantee that you'll get anything useful. But don't worry love, you can always come back and try again. For 30,000. Each. Time.

That's quite a lot of cash, yeah? Maybe they could lower the price a bit at some point, maybe just to 20,000 or something. And add a reroll for just one slot, maybe make THAT cost 30,000 (or like 2 Super Sea Snails or something)because it's more valuable.

IMO, never use Spyke for anything beyond adding slots and rerolling abilities.

Too much of a waste of cash.
