(I searched for the thread but I couldn't find it. Please delete or lock if this isn't allowed~ ^.^)

The Squid Sisters have successfully completed their second live~ :) The live took place on April 29 for NicoNico Choukaigi 2016.

Not only was this their second live but the Squid Sisters also debuted a brand new song! The song is called アオリソロ ~ ホタルソロ (Aorisoro ~ Hotarusoro). This translates into "Callie Solo ~ Marie Solo". Please forgive me if the translation is somehow wrong! I'm still learning Japanese but it was straight forward so I'm sure it's mostly correct. ^.^ Aori is Callie's Japanese name and Hotaru is Marie's Japanese name. :)

Check out the second live in the video below~!

1. Ink Me Up
2. Now or Never!
3. Callie Solo ~ Marie Solo
4. City of Color
5. Maritime Memory
6. Calamari Inkantation

I loved the new songs! Clearly shows how different Callie and Marie are in their styles.

No comedic banter this time around, I take it? But the new songs are pretty rad. I wouldn't mind having Callie's as an alternative to Ink Me Up for Splatfest Battles.

Hmm...could those new songs mean a new major update coming?

I don't know if it's “major”, but yes. They announced the Squid Sisters amiibos, with the all the songs, including the new ones.

Leave it to japan to turn two videogame characters into real life pop idols. Also
1. Ink Me Up
INK ME UP
INK ME UP INSIDE
I CAN'T INK UP
INK ME UP INSIDE
SPLOON ME!!!

Probably came out more sexual than i intended it to, but i don't care.

Y'know, having watched both concerts, I have to say: there's something... off about the Squid Sister models. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, though.

Probably the proportionally larger hands.

The Squid Sisters' movements seem a little stiff and....not human? I don't know how to describe it. xD There's definitely some moments during their live that they move a little awkwardly. :p It'll be nice to see if Nintendo continues and makes The Squid Sisters an actual virtual idol group. >w<

Also.... The amiibo announcement yesterday actually revealed the names for the solos. :) My Japanese is still fairly bad and I'm only learning so if any native speakers have any corrections to the titles below, it would be super appreciated. :)

Callie's solo is called 「トキメキ☆ボムラッシュ」 which is "Tokimeki☆Bomb Rush". In a literal translation, this would mean "Heartbeat☆Bomb Rush". It could mean something like "Exciting☆Bomb Rush" too. Tokimeki is a "sound" in Japanese that mimics the sound of a heartbeat in like a rush of excitement. I haven't seen anything about an official English name yet.

Marie's solo is called 「スミソアエの夜」. This is actually a little difficult for me to read and I'd really appreciate some help on it. Tentatively, I would read it as "Night of Beauty" but I'm almost certain that is incorrect. I'm really sorry. .v. At any rate, we know the official English name for Marie's solo is "Tide Goes Out" since it was shown in the official release trailer. c:

Yeah, let's not talk about their proportionally enormous heads.

I don't know, it seems really fluid to me. At least, way more fluid than their in-game dance...

Or, maybe I know what you're talking about. Their body movement is definitely fluid, but their facial expressions is where it fails. Especially their eyes.

I mean, it could just be that I don't agree with some of their dance moves. Lord knows their routine for Now or Never! looks more like something I'd expect from a vaudeville performance than an idol group. (Then again, I've never bothered with watching this sort of thing until last January, so what do I know?)

Watching the video again, I think it has to do with their hands; they seem to usually be held at an odd angle more often than they should.

Thinking about it, I'm amazed at the amount of behind-the-scenes production work that likely goes into the Squid Sisters performance. (One surprise is how often Callie's tentacles move.)

It was fun to watch. I tried not to get drawn in but... Marie's solo, the tone, and her voice—ah dammit, she's trouble for me now! My feels, she has them! >w< (What was heard cannot be unheard! D=)

So since they have their own solo songs, in-universe I'm curious how much of the work is theirs and amount of creative control they have. *shrugs*

Y'know, having watched both concerts, I have to say: there's something... off about the Squid Sister models. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, though.
Uncanny valley? Big heads and big hands with long fingers? No human noses? No folds, creases, clefts, cleavage, whatever when they stretch, bend, twist, or turn parts of their bodies? Every now and then a limb moves as one unit instead of separate joints? Their hips not loose enough? xD

Reminds me of muppets in a lot of Jim Henson's productions. You know it's not real but something about it makes you believe it actually occupy and interact in the same space as you.

(EDIT: Is it me or is Marie's solo the same theme you hear on the inventory screen and matchmaking screen? Or maybe they just share the same tempo?)

That was actually a nice little concert they put on. I liked how they still reminded the audience to "stay fresh!" Haha

This one is not that hard, it's just a physics engine handling the movement. I mean, having the physics engine to work is still hard, but one you have it you can easily do stuff like this.
