So I'm new around here, hopefully this goes in the right thread >~<
I main the Luna Blaster and Hero Slosher, but I'm getting stuck in the A- and A ranks! I do wonder if it's me or if matchmaking keeps giving me rubbish teams...

With the Luna Blaster my playstyle is a sneaky one, hiding in the ink and popping out when an enemy is near. I run ninja squid but I also rely heavily on bombs to keep enemies at bay, in fact, half or more of my splats come from enemies forgetting that there's a bomb that I've thrown and they walk into it. I always play with this in splat zones!
With the Slosher, I tend to be very aggressive with it, but it's my weaker weapon, I tend to get into a lot of 1v1s and get splatted due to a lack of range. I prefer it over the Luna Blaster though as I like playing in the middle of the action. I run A LOT of ink saver main because this thing is very thirsty for ink.

Anyway, if you want to play with me I'm happy to do that, but really I'm just looking for advice!

I would recommend to use the Luna for tower control particularly. There it can be an unruly beast, absolutely racking up the kills while doing a service by keeping enemies off the tower. Typically, you'd want to escort the tower itself rather than standing on it, due to the shorter range of the weapon. Focus on riding slightly ahead of where the tower will be and popping shots over ledges/corners where enemies might be in ambush. Personally, I'd ditch ninja-squid for the weapon as you want to be aggressive with it and force the enemy to be backing up constantly. Bombs are good for keeping enemies moving at a distance, letting you close with some swim speed ups. Save your baller in that mode for clearing a path ahead by causing the 'idiot play' distraction, where everyone focuses on the immediate threat (you) and ignores the tower which may get past a checkpoint in the few seconds it takes them to scatter from your explosion.

For the slosher, while the weapon is slightly longer range than some midrange weapons, it does actually get matched in range by some as well. The splattershot can't shoot you but can still throw bombs, and you're basically the same range as the sloshing machine; these are the most popular weapons in the meta. Surprisingly, I found that rollers could still hit you on a vertical fling. I think you just need to take the weapon to the practice range, see exactly what range your opposing weapons are, and get some more practice in games. I would also learn to abuse height differences and shooting over walls, as that's a primary benefit of all slosher weapons.
As for the luna, I'd love to give some advice on that too, but you haven't really said what your problems are when using it.

I find it a little difficult to actually splat with, more than half of my splats are from bombs. But thank you for the Slosher tips!!

Sorry for not seeing this until now!

Sorry for not seeing this until now! I never thought to go for that approach - will definitely be trying it :) thank you so much!

The Slosher isn't too great at splatting since it's a really slow 2-shot. Since it comes out so slowly you should try to aim where you think the enemy will go (as opposed to where they are currently). You also shouldn't play too aggressively with Slosher since it will lose a lot of 1v1s because of its slow time to kill (TTK). I used to play Slosher but I honestly feel it's outclassed by the Splattershot Pro, which boasts superior range and TTK so I dropped Slosher in favor of getting better with the Pro.
