Hi. You may or may not know me, but i am AidanC97...a canadian kid that lives and breathes through many passionate things...I am here to finally present to you the long journey i have traveled through. Enjoy ;)

I am Aidan Andrew Glenn Calhoun. I was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada on November 11th, 1997 at the Royal Columbian Hospital just outside from the town, at 09:17AM PST. I was a small, yet cute child that was introduced to the world by everyone i now know in my family. But not all was good news
At 2 weeks old the doctors told us (Mom and Dad) that i had a cleft pallet which reduced the size of the neck and reduced my tongue. This also prevented me from breathing normally. They also told me that one of my heart valves was broken and it needed to be fixed immediately. I needed to stay in hospital afterwards because A) I needed some time to re-cooperate from that and B) we didn't have a ventilator at our house, meaning i would be at the hospital until further notice. Life was this until July 15th, 1998 when i wanted to be in my father's arms. They didn't pick me up to hold me since my birth. When i was in my father's arms i seized up, and had a seizure, forcing the medical attendants at a new hospital, BC Children's, to put me back on the bed and try to stop the seizure from getting any worse. But during the reviving, one of the nurses did a wrong move, and killed me in the process. I was brought to life soon after. then died again after due to a similar incident, i died the second time then. I was revived again by the wonderful help of doctors and surgeons. It was at this time that the doctors put a trachea tube in my throat, because my original trachea was collapsing. Also after those events I had a pacemaker put in. My heart would not function properly without the pacemaker, as i could've died without it. It would be replaced every 7-8 years, as that is the lifespan of it. I was finally going home 2 months afterwards, to a nice house built by one of my great Aunts. We moved to a townhouse on 10th street soon after. I liked that house because we were with our neighbours that weren't across the street from us, which was a good thing. Then another incident occurred in 2000 when i was decalinated, meaning i couldn't breathe properly for the last 3 months of the year, then in 2001 i broke my arm off my grandmother's high bed, leaving school for a good 4-6 weeks. After the recovery, I continued life like a normal human-being until Late 2011 when i had 6 teeth surgically removed to make room for me to have braces to fix my upper and lower teeth. In June of 2015 my pacemaker failed and i had to get it replaced ASAP, 2 weeks later i had to get it repaired again because of the new leads popped out of position.

So that's me in a nutshell. Thanks for reading

Glad you're here to tell your story...I was wasn't breathing when I was born, and my doctor did nothing. But my aunt who was a nurse at the time was in the room to support my mom, revived me. :-0 You're a year younger than me I was born in 1996! :-0

I also used to have seizures as a kid and they're SCARY!!!! My seizures lasted about 5 minutes, but I grew out of them.
