So I've been paying attention to area cup a bit recently, and it's made me think about the meta rn cause it has actually developed a bit. Something in the last two area cup was that a double bubble team got second, and lost to a double strike team. And also zooka isn't relevant in area cup, I feel like zooka is getting kicked out by bubbler, but strike is good into bubble. It feels kinda like a rock paper scissors meta with zooka bubble and strike, but we just arent seeing zooka because it so bad into bubble that it cant make up for being good into strikes. Strikes are in most comps rn, double strike is not uncommon, but we're still seeing a good bit of bubble. I think that we're still seeing bubble because burning your whole strikes to stop a bubble isn't always worth, and its not as hard of a counter as some people think. I'm really happy with what I'm seeing in the meta rn, but I wanna make sure I know I'm right about why what's being picked, and I want other ppls thoughts.

Bubble has been gradually getting buffs, directly and indirectly. The devs nerfed Zooka's (and Inkjet's) damage to Bubble directly, which I believe is the cause of the rise of TriStrike weapons (esp Neo Splash). The devs seem to want bubble to be meta. Bubble's painting buff from 8.0 also helps even if it isn't the direct cause of its meta status.
This is probably why Mint in particular is becoming more meta I believe in the west. It paints relatively well, it's got Bubble, and it can kill. Def not as aggressive as Charcoal but definitely a hybrid Slayer/Support. Plus decent object damage helps.

they should have brought back inkstrike from splat 1, but with counterplay. it falls from the sky slowly, and can be countered like octavio's rally missile. if destroyed, it will paint the destroyer's ink color. otherwise, it would function like the classic inkstrike, wreaking havoc

bring back killer wail, but it can't go through walls

and give zooka a small nerf like 50 damage indirect.

fixed!
