Thoughts on Splatoon Lore?

Apparently some people are theorizing Splatoon maybe a connected universe between Mario and Zelda series.

Inb4GameTheory. What do you guys think?

It's definitely interesting. I hadn't seen anyone suggest it may be connected to Zelda before, but I'd bet money it's connected to Mario and bloopers. I mean, this game was a Mario game in early stages of development after all.

I pointed this out In a previous thread, but the sign in front of the weapons shop says that the store was established in 60000.

Gives you some perspective as to how far into the future the game is.

Thing is, why ink if its that into the future? Why not scifi stuffs?

Jokes side, I think this game will definitely have an interesting lore. Not Metroid levels of lore, but at least something to think about.

There's also one of those scrolls I think that shows octarians with leaves covering their bottom and a Squid hanging off a tree offering an apple like Adam and Eve and the snake in the bible. Maybe this is octarian propaganda trying to demonize the squids/inklings as a way to justify to their troops their conflict? Or maybe it shows that the squids were the aggressors back then?

Most likely what happened in Wall-E. Rising sea levels coupled by a trashed world and scarce resources. Some humans left the planet in search for a new home and in due time the Molluscs filled that niche. One of the sea scrolls talks about the inklings sending a record with a message to space in order to communicate with extraterrestrial life. It will be interesting if humans obtained that record and return to meet the new denizens of their former home.
