Tri-Squad Match Making Issue: CAN'T CONNECT!

Hello fellow squidlings,

Since I'm new, allow me to introduce myself - I'm Staniel.

Okay, now let's get down to business. I've been loving Splatoon so far, but yesterday I tried to play squads with my brother and cousin; however, we could not get matched up to play agains anyone. We probably tried this 10-12 times with different hosts each time and nothing would work. The countdown would reach zero every turn and disband the squad. Has anyone encountered this? We've tried resetting our equipment and nothing changes.

We were able to play the regular turf wars mode with no issues at all (other than the fact that it NEVER puts all 3 of us on the same team). We're all super bummed at this point and were wondering if anyone knows the solution to this problem. We've searched the webs and haven't found anyone else detailing this connectivity issue.

We figured it had something to do with one of our connections, so we took turns trying to play the twin squad mode in different pairs. We were able to play this mode with no problems at all, no matter who was host, or who the second player was.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Ordinarily if it's a connection issue, you will get a 'connection has been lost' message rather than the clock running down. My guess is none of you are S ranked for matchmaking so it just can't find any squads to match you against, since almost all of them contain S rank players these days.

Thanks for the reply, Jet Uppercut!

Interesting conclusion, we hadn't given that a thought. We're all pretty new to the game, so we're still ranked as C or C minus. It definitely didn't boot us for having a connection issue, either. The clock ran to zero every time we tried to play.

I can't imagine that there are 0 C-ranked squads out there, though. If everyone is an S, then why even have a ranking system in the game?

Also, how were we able to play Twin Squad mode with no problems then? Or does Tri Squad only match you up with another group of players if they've got a similarly ranked party of 3 or 4?

I know it warns you that you may get matched up against 4 opponents instead of 3, but we figured that just meant that it would try to match us up with another Tri, but if none were available it would match us up with a Quad, or 2 Twins. But with how you're talking, it seems as if Twins are all on one server, and Tris and Quads are all on another.

This is disappointing to hear. There should be a way to override the skill-level match making feature and consent to play against ANY groups available, not just the ones who are a similar rank.
