What bits of this meta suck rn

and i want to discuss stuff both regading it, the current meta, and the diffrent ways to interpret the video

So lets start with the simple one we now have 2 new meta weapons
Splash -> Vshot
BP -> Pencil

fundimentally these do similar jobs

Vshot is that support slayer hybrid role with good flexability and a strong special that is able to get you in
Pencil is a strong anchor tool that outputs a very useful special that can be expressive in its use defencivly, agressivly or just for contesting

So whats the big diffrence why do we not enjoy it?
Well lets look at each individually

Vshot, Main weapon wise its a slightly more agressvie splash with worse paint theres basically not a diffrence so the sub weapon this one is odd it is a large AoE Leathal bomb so an argument can be made that it is very passive but if we look at crab meta we can see burst bombs where another reason for that meta being passive trying to run down 3 burst bombs would mean you where always chips and thus easy to combo of so im no certain its the bomb while both are good bombs usually splat bomb and fizzy are considered just a bit better

So Zooka the thing we all knew was coming but what makes Zooka so diffrent to crab and jet?
In regards to the points mentioned in the chara vid Counterplay, and ive seen a few top mid and low level players all agree no counterplay or the term we use alot "Unreactable"

Crab had the ability to be broken the rider to be hit or you to even force the player out of better positions to reduce the impact of crab
Inkjet was similar it was able to be punished thats one of the reason we dont see much of it now pencil has great conter play into it we see more AoE and cooler lets you just go for trades with it because your basically trading 1/4 of a special for 1 special
both could be countered and also had skill expression to such a degree you almost had diffrent playstyles with them
Both also had some form of start up almost, crab had to charge up its attack and inkjet well had to get into the air and also then has the recall after use slowing your advance down

now look at zooka
Start up frames are basically none existant some weapons are so much slower than its start up they cant even start the animation for their next shot so theres that one, but now look at the counterplay they are just a inkling really but if you want to push it all it has to do is turn to face you really and it has access to a 1 shot, but inkjet had that was makes it so diffrent for one inkjet had to have line of sight usually and could maybe poke like a blaster can around walls in some cases, but also you could trade it out with cooler and while you can do that wil zooka zooka has such a bigger hit box longer range and thus can be popped from safer distances that rushing it down and trading isnt often an option and many midlines cannot kill it before it can fire its shot with exception to squeezer and blaster directs, but that also implys they are in position to do that with cooler they will often be in the position to defend against being rushed down
So in summary:
- Counterplay is hard and minimal and the same for every weapon so kill time matters
- it is regarded to me more oppresive
- Its easy to get kills with and you can get alot of zookas meaning it can keep the enemy team out of the game for notable ammounts of time even with cooler on top of that with cooler even if you target the zooka player to reduce how many they can get cooler allows them to keep their zooka charge negating counterplay further

So zooka is basically just an oppresive special and i would argue also just not fun to fight its very bland and simple so there isnt a huge ammount of expression there in how to fight it

Now to pencil the one everyone talks about and for good reason, the issue with vshot isnt the weapon but the special the issue with pencil is very easily both

so what does pencil do thats so insane
- Good range value with nice follow up and chip dmg
- Great movment allowing it to deal with being rushed down and out position backlines and effectivly increase its range
- Amazing ranged/forward paint output allowing it to keep consistant zone of control with paint and deny space
- Reasonably good counterplay into other backlines meaning theres very little to shut it down
- and fundimentally because of these it can server 2 roles Anchor and Support and unlike a BP or splash which has to adapt alot to change between its hybrid play style Pencil can do both at the same time

But there is an argument for this being good, while backline and support diversity is down alot we are seeing more weapons on the front and midlines than ever really and in this regard pencil is amazing for the game but what it needs is what ball point has backline counterplay, BP is amazing against mid/frontlines but not so great at dealing with anchors particually chargers but pencil kinda just 1 ups everythingin backline diversity, if another backline was able to compete there would be a niche for support that could be filled again because now you pick the Counterpick Anchor + your support and the benifit from running pencil would be you dont need to run support and can be more agressive. Without this it makes the game unfun for 2 entire playstyles as you either play pencil or run somthing else. Now i will not this is not across the board meta means less at lower levels of play and even falls of between the gap between Top and high level from what we see in tornuments but it still matters and these weapons/specials being unfun to play makes the gamew infuriating and just not worth investing as much time into due to it being less fun

Theres very few comparisions to draw for Pencil to anything else because its kit and main weapon allow it to play 2 roles instead of somthing like Ntri which is a slayer weapon with a support kit allowing it to play hybrid but being weaker at both slaying and support than other weapons as a trade off and that is why its a problem

i think its now widly understood that late jet meta/early cooler meta was the most fun meta for the most people and felt good to play this current meta is much less that and the margin of error has decreased alot in the current meta making it infuriating to learn and almost feel unstable.

anyway thats my thoughts on why this "Meta" is worse than previous ones and also why fundimentally these new "Meta" weapons dont have the same positive effect compared to their counterparts from 9-10 months ago
