Many people struggle with ranking up in Splatoon, it's a difficult task for some but with some tips, you should get up in no time!
How do you win at Splatoon?
A very general question but it should definitely improve you if you have issues with this.
An inkling wins a game of Splatoon for one reason only: getting map control and maintaining it to the end, so naturally this should be your main goal. There are many ways to achieve this, but you should adjust to your weapon (so no more rushing in with an e-liter.)
One of the most popular (and successful) methods is flanking. Flanking is when a player takes a path that leads into the enemy's base to prevent the opposing team from taking control of the center. But as said before you should only do the method that suits your weapon. For example a Custom Jet Squelcher is great to do this method.
Another way is to hold down the base. To hold down the base is when a player makes sure that the opposing team does not gain control of the territory near their spawn. Players should try to focus on any routes enemies can use to flank and the route from center to base. A good example of a weapon that can do this is the E-liter 3k scope.
To win you must try to not die. You must try to not get yourself in a situation in which a lower kill time weapon is near you, or you are surrounded in enemy ink. To do this don't extend yourself too far into the enemy base (you're not helping), always help your teammates, and use your weapon in its proper position and way. Dying is bad because it gives the other team a better chance of getting control in the center, 4 will almost always win in 3v4. Always be helpful towards the win and you will be successful.
Weapons
Always use the weapons you are comfortable with and try ones that are successful. Use the weapons that you are good at, don't try out new weapons in ranked that's a bad idea. If you want to try out a weapon you should buy it, test it in the testing area, try it in turf war, and if you think it's going to do well then try it out in ranked, don't just try it in ranked or you will lose. Also you should try weapons that are successful, or recommended. Personally I recommend the 96 gal Deco, Custom Jet Squelcher, E-liter 3K (you must be good with chargers), tentatek, and Forge Splattershot Pro, but feel free to use weapons that you think you will succeed with.
Gear
You should Pick gear that fits your weapon, and helps you in battle. Some examples of gear that helps you in battle are: Cold Blooded, for staying sneaky and making sure the opposing team doesn't kill you, Swim Speed, to get to key points of the map faster, Ink Recovery/ Ink saver, so you won't be out of ink in important times, and Haunt, while replacing Cold Blooded it indicates teams on where a player who killed you is, which could prevent them from successfully getting map control. Depending on the weapon you play you might need different perks. for instance .96 gals should have strength as it makes them a two shot kill instead of three at times, this is very useful. Just get the gear that helps an issue that you have or improves the weapon.
