Hey, we get it. However this website is run by and for the community... and it needs ads in order to keep running.

Hey so, we've gone past our predicted signup number of 32 and we've still got 10 days left to register! Depending on the number of pairs playing, we'll have arbitrary caps on the way to 64 in order to have a clean bracket.
This means that teams that signup will be placed as backup until we reach another clean number - say 48 for example - where then the backups will be moved to 100% playing in the tourney, and teams that signup after that will be placed as backup until we reach 64 (NOTE: these numbers are just examples, and the midway caps are likely going to be spaced closer together)
Welcome to the 4th Iteration of Calamari Cup Saturday 13th of February 2016 at 5pm UTC
4v4 pairs Round Robin
Current signups: 28 Bracket limit: 32/64
Welcome once more to another tournament! In order to celebrate this year's Valentines, we'll be hosting a 4v4 Round Robin tournament, but things will be a lot different this time! Teams will sign up as a pair, then get matched with another two players to form their own group of 4!
Make sure to read thoroughly, as you'll need substantial knowledge of the rules
REGISTRATION ENDS FEB. 12 12AM UTC Follow the Links/steps below to get your team signed up
Leave a reply in the thread so we can get notified of your signup
Signup Rules
Teams must designate 2 players who will play as a team throughout the whole tourney. If a member needs to swap out with someone else before the tournament begins, both themselves and their teammate must inform one of the TO's in #registration-edits. During the tournament, a pair can swap out one of their members, but this swap is permanent and can be done only twice. If you need to permanently swap a player, notify a TO in #registration edits. A squad can register as many teams as they would like.
If you are found to be playing for multiple teams at a time, you will be disqualified. Alternatively, once knocked out of the tournament, you cannot swap in for another team
4v4 PAIRS: GROUPS TO ELIMINATION - - - Max of 32/64 pair signups
One representative from each pair must #check-in on the Discord server on tourney day
Beginning 5pm UTC
Check in starts 4pm UTC - Ends 5:10pm
Teams that do not check in by 5:10pm are DQ'd
Teams will go against each other in 4v4 formations
Teams will be announced 1.5 days before the tournament begins
The group of 4 should decide on one player to communicate and organize matches
This information is not required by the TOs
If teams have issues deciding, bring the situation to #helpdesk
If teams wish to communicate, they may do so in their own servers
Pairing teams will be done on the basis of TOs helped by BTM's rankings
Groups will then be decided randomly
Round Robin Groups
Teams will be separated into groups of 4
Teams will find their opponents within their specific group channel (a, b, c, etc.)
32 signups (16 teams) There will be 4 groups - 2 teams move on from each group
64 signups (32 teams) There will be 8 groups - 1 team moves on from each group
Teams should play their round in accordance to the timeframe in #announcements on tourney day
If teams cannot agree on a host, the team with a lower seed on the bracket may decide
If a team is unresponsive for an unreasonable amount of time, contact a TO at #helpdesk
All games played as a Best of 5
Finals and Semi Finals played as a best of 7
Bo7 bronze match will be played if both teams are willing to
Report game scores at the #report scores channel
Disconnection rules
A team may only reset one game in a set due to a DC. If a second DC happens by the same team, the match is played on
A pair that has a member that DCs may swap out a player only twice and permanently
YOU MUST NOTIFY A TO OF THIS CHANGE IN: #roster-edits
Both pairs can swap out a teammate twice, leading to a total of 4 permanent swaps per team
When a match is replayed - players from both teams must use the exact same weapons and gear as last game. If the DC'd player decides to swap out, the player substituting in may pick any weapon of their choice
If you have any qualms with the rule - PM feedback to @Demiose or in the feedback thread after the tourney
In case of a dispute, we encourage players that DC to take a screenshot of their error, as there may be some cases where TOs overrule a DC and allow the match to be counted
There is a Discord phone app for uploading convenience
Lag Rules
If there is a recurring case of a player who is accused of lag, they may be asked to measure their connection speed
players may be forcibly removed from the tournament and subbed out because of a lag advantage
if you need help from a TO regarding this, bring the situation to the #helpdesk channel on Discord
Forcibly substituting a player will not count towards a pair's two permanent swaps.
Report lag issues at #helpdesk
Players are expected to have an understanding of how to use Discord
How it works: (For newer players)
The leftmost coloumn with icons are your servers. The Calamari cup server uses a pink squid as our logo
Using the left sidebar, you can scroll between different text channels used for different purposes (explained below) treat each text channel as a different 'group chat'
The server admins can give members custom colours. In our server, TO's are pink/red
The center of the screen is your chatlog
You can edit settings by selecting the gear icon on the bottom of the leftsidebar
You can message other players by clicking on their name and selecting the large blue Message button
Navigate through your direct messages by clicking on the top icon on the serverlist: (3 people icon)
The right sidebar displays the users who have joined the server
Uses of each text channel:
#announcements: Used for communicating important messages to players, especially at tourney day
#links: provides quick access to important links
#overview: provides an overview of the CC rules. Refer to it if you need a quick refresher
#universal: The general text channel. All players - whether involved with the tourney or not- can chat
#report scores: where the results of each match should be posted
#check in: Where team captains must check in at the day. A simple "Team X checking in" will do
#helpdesk: If any disputes arise - or help is needed. Bring your questions here rather than PMing a TO
#roster-edits: Captains may edit their team roster by posting here before check in begins
#group_x: where teams should go to find their opponents within their specific group
All players on the winning team will receive 3 months of Squidboards premium to commemorate their victory. Think of it as a personal gift as well as contributing to the growth of the Splatoon community!

Hey everyone! We've recently decided that we might need some extra staff to keep our tourneys going with a large number of entrants. The 48 teams last tourney was slightly overwhelming us so we want to be prepared for the next time - or the one after that! If you feel you're interested in helping out, just shoot me a PM @Demiose , but I've gotta tell ya in advance that not everyone is going to be accepted. We'll probably recruit a hand or two.
We're also interested in venturing into the realm of commentary streams beginning from CC5 onwards! Although we're not 100% on if we want to do this just yet, if we get enough staff we can make it a reality! Hit me up if you're interested, have good internet/computer, want to do commentary or otherwise.
