Disappearing Rainmaker

So recently I was playing a solo queue rainmaker match on Kelp Dome and in one game the rainmaker wasn't visible to me on-screen/ on map and it also seemed to others too even though it was my teammate who had it. Twice they lost it and even then I couldn't see the rainmaker regenerate especially when the marker for the positioning said it was still in the middle. So then I waited where it was indicated only for it to magically appear in the hands of an opposition where I got splatted. Is this a known occurrence?

P.S. I'm not a noob and my eyesight is fine.

Possibly severe lag on someone else's part, probably several people. The amount of lag can cause the game to get confused, ie where ink is, the situation of splat zones, location of the tower, and where the rainmaker is.
