Do you prefer depletion or points to activate?

In Splatoon 1, there's special depletion, which changed how much special points you lost after death on every individual weapon, but all specials cost a consistent amount of points across all weapons.
In Splatoon 2, all weapons have the same depletion but specials take different amounts of points to charge on each weapon.
Which system do you prefer?
For me, it's Splatoon 2 because it allows better balance.
