Just signed up on the board. I'm not sure what the demographic is here or what games you come from previously but I have a feeling I might be an odd one out. Splatoon is my first console shooter. In fact its the first game I have played online on a console. My background consists mostly of RTS, FPS and RPGs on PC. Mainly stuff from the late 90s. (I'm 30).

I thought I would have a hard time transitioning from games like CS:GO and Quake to controlling my view with a stick but the gyro really helped a lot. After only a couple of hours it started feeling natural. I really love this game so far and look forward to see how it develops in the future. Would be awesome to be able to play it with a premade team.

Welcome to the site, hope you have an awesome time here! There are plenty of squads and teams that are recruiting, you can take a look in the Groups section or browse around the Crispy Calamari section for teams.

Welcome to Squidboards! I personally don't quite know entirety of the demographic here myself, but most of the people I encounter play mostly Nintendo games, as to be expected. Smash, Mario Kart, so on. But this is in the Shooter genre, so there are a few CS:GO players lying around here too.

I too thought the transition would be rough, as I always try to play Shooters online on PC due to the ease of the mouse and keyboard, but the gyro controls in this game are great which caught me by surprise. It really feels natural and smooth, a great use of the Gamepads gyrosenser.

Like above, there are plenty of groups in the Groups section, and you can browse the Crispy Calamari for teams as well.

Yeah, welcome! From what I've gathered, half the people here are just as new to shooters as you. Someone else who just posted their welcome forum is used to MarioKart, and I know half a smash crew that just migrated, and from what I hear they arent alone.

The smashers are coming. Be prepared.

Welcome for the 7th time! lol. I hope you enjoy your stay at the Squidboards!

I seem to be the opposite of you. I started off playing online in consoles, then shifted over to playing games on steam. I think they both have very different experiences, but both are very enjoyable.

Also you might want to check out the forum rules and user guide. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or another staff member for help.
