How do I charger

So, I've been trying to switch to maining charger. I normally play splattershot jr. and mix in some aerospray. I did horribly, though. Can someone give me some help? I'm tired of it seeming like everyone on the other team guns for me like I'm easy pickings, and then them prettymuch being right about that -_-

I'm level 20, have all of the weapons including single player unlocks. What's the best one to be using and how do I use it?
