Hi y'all, I'm still new to the boards, so if this is the wrong place to post this, please move it to the right place ^^.

I have had the chance to play the old demo last year October which gave me an advantage over other people during the first test fire session. Which got me to thinking how to use this advantage by creating some kind of tactic to get an even bigger edge over the other players during the second and third test fire sessions.

Basically what I did during my second and third test fire round is what I've done in this video:

What I did was go for ground objectives the first minute meaning spreading ink on the floor as much as possible while not bothering with the enemy team too much unless they get in your face.

At around 1:00 to 2:20 try to control your enemies by contesting their inked territory, this is mainly the part where you try to get as many kills as possible.

Use the remainder of the time to get as much ink on the ground as possible, as the last half minute pretty much decides who wins the match. (in the end, the one with the most ink on the ground at the result screen will win the match, even if you get dominated by the other team, you can still win by using this to your advantage)

In the embedded video, I've won almost every game by performing this tactic over and over again. (had some rough games because of AFK's)

Of course you need to remember this is a team game, so for example if you see a teammate being stuck in the enemy's ink, create a path for him to flee on or use your bubble near him, even if that means that you will miss out on a kill. The longer your teammates stay alive, the more "ground" they can cover.

I hope this was of any use to you if you read it all :) We shall see if I had the right idea when the game comes out =D

Seems like good time management to me, unless you're up against a particularly aggressive team who's just trying to hunt you down. Though at the same time, you'll have spent that time gaining a stronger control of the map, so even if every member of your team gets splattered, you might still come out ahead early on.

Oh, I forgot to add, if anyone has a different way on scoring high consistently, I'd be happy to hear it. Or if you have any improvement my current method, please reply. I might make a full teamwork/individual scoring guide when the game comes out. I'm going to need all the information I can get.

Did you use motion controls or right stick?

Really like this strategy! Setting up specific times to focus on specific objectives makes your game play seem a lot more efficient (and definitely effective.)

Right stick, -2 sensitivity. I think -3 or -3,5 woud have been better if you use the 180 turn button
t...there's a 180 turn button?

ok yeah -4 sensitivity it is, then. was concerned that I would have to use a high sensitivity to be able to spread ink better but I guess not

Well, I managed to do a 180 turn by using a button... Not sure which, I think it was the Y. Or my controller glitched out. But if it's a thing it's definitely going to be big.

There isn't a 180 turn button, but you can get a similar effect by pressing back on the left control stick and hitting Y. Y resets the camera, so it'll do a 180 turn if your character is facing towards the screen. It's not quite as effective as it takes time for your character to spin around, if you do Y and back at the same time it's around a 90 turn instead and even giving your character some time it's hard to get a perfect spin, you'll often end up being a bit right or left of your intention. .

What video editing software are you using? You encoded a 720p60 video, however every other frame is a duplicate of the previous one, making the video effectively 30fps.

I watched the video but I was a bit mislead by your title; with “(even when losing)” you seem to imply that you don't take into account the +300 points bonus awarded for a win. You scored 1000+ in 3 matches over 14 which is not “almost every” match.

1: 924 (won→ 1224)
2: 866 (won→ 1166)
3: 1007 (won→ 1307)
4 (15:02): 915 (won→ 1215)
5: 815
6: 734
7: 820
8: 849
9: 1063
10: 960 (won→ 1260)
11: 848 (won→ 1148)
12: 896 (won→ 1196)
13: 1116 (won→ 1416)
14: 809 (won→ 1109)

Still a fairly impressive average.

Well the highest I can get is 838 with the added 300 bonus. He's pretty good.

Solid play; makes me want to try splattershot Jr next time I play.

I had played with roller and what I tried to do most of the game was try and cover as much area as possible while approaching enemies, and sneak up behind them. If I was already close enough to them I just flatten them, but if they were aware of me I would tilt my stick up and try to throw ink behind them and back off a bit and hide. They usually walked backwards into it and started to panic, letting me throw ink on them and killing them or just rolling them. With super weapons I aimed towards choke points and popular contested areas. I usually got 2 kills per Wail, and got several triple kills.

Anyways, yeah I tried to manage my time like you did. Early game spread some ink -> mid game control points and kill enemies -> last 30 seconds cover as much as possible.

Hi mindscarp, I was in a hurry setting up my recording device, so I had no time to test it, it was indeed recorded as a 720p30 video, which I later used another preset 720p60 encoding on. Don't think too much of it.

And yes, I have taken into account the bonus 300, effectively giving me 1000+ scores. I've also added in the first post that some games got ruined by afk's (which were the ones I scored less than 1000 total ie 5 6 7 and 8.

I am still new to these boards, and havn't figured out how to change the title, I agree with you and the lab coats hate me guy that a better title is in order.

EDIT: found it.

I just play normally for the most part. Get ink in areas people don't usually go and travel quickly and make sure to always splat anyone who is around where you are trying to get ink is how I play. I got 1st on my team just about every game and didn't lose at all except for maybe once.
