Well before web pages used to be more clear and bright, light green make a good combination with white and with the art of the green inkling in the background.
But really I don't understand the reason.

I kinda like that layout. Not sure about the color though. I would be like, Go yellow + purple! (Aka, splatoon 3 ink colors)
