Idea for a squad for ages 14-21 (Feedback much appreciated)

Ever tried to join groups, but you're considered too young for most squads?
Ever had that issue where school/uni/job has ruined your chance to join a group due to your lack of consistent availability?
Ever felt daunted by groups filled with older players?
Or maybe you're just aged 14-21 and after some matches against players your own age?

If so, then I have the group for you!

My idea is for Generation Z:

A squad for those born between 1995 to 2012 (Hypothetically speaking anyway; The age limit would be more like 14 or 15 as the youngest you can be).

Depending on the feedback I receive, the age limits may change. If it's mostly players my age and younger, I might lower the maximum age. Same applies to getting mostly older players; I'd raise the minimum age.

Generation Z is a real thing, in case you think I'm just pulling names out at random; It's generally what the group of people born from 1995 to 2012 are called. Their main characteristics are that they are comfortable using technology and spend most of their socialising on social media.

I haven't created the group yet, as I'd like a response from the community first. AlsoI'mtiredasheck.

Roles needed!

I am not a leader! Again for the people at the back; I am not a leader!
I'm not up to running a group, competitive or not! That's the reason why this post is outlining roles needed to be filled by others! I only created this group because it's what I felt the community lacked; I created this because it's the kind of group I'd want to join. I'll obviously talk with you all and happily play with you, even try out for competitive if my schedule frees up and I've reached S+! But I just can't run a group by myself entering 6th form. Sorry. Think of it this way; I'm essentially auctioning off my idea for potential leaders, on the basis that I get to be part of decision-making and can take part in matches, convos etc. I'm not a fan of dictatorship; this group should be run democratically with leaders making important decisions together, and the members of the group being asked for their opinion on matters.

However. Before any of this can really start, some leaders of the group are required; a competitive leader and at least one casual leader.

Competitive Leader:

As a leader of the competitive side, you've got a lot of freedom! You can: add in more rules for the team and try-outs, remove people from the team, plan competitive only chats and matches to discuss techniques, etc.
It's a lot of responsibility, honestly.

Important note: Once secured as the competitive leader, you can open out for vice-captains, joint positions, etc. if you wish.
  • It's expected that you'll lead your squad in games, but it's your choice in the end
  • You decide on any practice schedules you might want the team to follow
  • Up to you whether you want members to just use one main weapon, or if you want them to be jack-of-all-trades
  • You run the try-outs, and any rules that strictly apply to them
  • I urge you to ensure that the team doesn't save scum, but you can make the final call
  • Keep on top of your team's abilities, and don't be afraid to remove people from the team if necessary
  • You can be as strict or relaxed as you wish, but bear in mind you're the competitive team of the group
  • It's up to you to arrange games between other squads, and who you think you should play against
  • You've got to be around a lot to keep your team in shape and be a positive figure of authority
  • I shouldn't have to say this, but for the love of all things holy, be respectful to all the group members; don't go abusing your status!
  • You'll be first chosen based on past experience and rank, but you won't be removed if you go down a rank! As long as you're doing your job then there should be no reason to have you leave; it's the enthusiasm/support you provide that keeps you here
  • If people do want you to step down, be accepting; as long as it's nothing serious, there should be no reason for you to leave the group entirely

If you wish to apply for this role then please PM me the following:
  • Rank and Level (S+ is obviously most sought after, but S/A+ if you have bucket loads of experience, tips and enthusiasm for competitive play!)
  • Any past experience in leading or playing with a squad (Preferred if you've previously led, but again, enthusiasm can make up for it)
  • Timezone
  • Region/country (Region applies to countries that have multiple timezones throughout)
  • Languages you know (I only know English, but if the group could be opened to those with limited English it would be nice)
  • Age (Preferred that you're at least 16)
  • What you use to communicate (Skype, Discord etc.)
  • Tell me a bit about your preferred weapons, roles etc. (More like "Getting to know me" kinda info)
  • Availability (You've got to have to time to commit, no way around this one really)
  • What you want to bring to the group (As a member of authority in the group)
  • What you want to bring to the competitive squad (Very important! There's no such thing as too much detail; show your enthusiasm!)

Casual Leader:

This is obviously a much more relaxed role compared to the competitive leader. Your focus would be to arrange events, matches, chats etc. for members. Also, you've got to talk with members, find out what people want from the group and if you can, deliver to them.

There's no wall of text for this role as it's pretty simple for me; you come to me with what you'd do/bring and from there I'll decide if you seem up to it. But overall, most will be accepted; it's about community cheer, not rank or skill.

If you wish to apply for this role then please PM me the following:
  • Rank and Level (More of "get to know you" question, but you need to be at least level 10 so that you can access and understand the ranked battles)
  • Any past experience in being in a squad (Not necessary, but if you do then that's great)
(More "Getting to know me" info)
  • Availability (As long as there are a few casual leaders, the times you're unavailable should hopefully be filled)
  • What you want to bring to the group (As a member of authority in the group)
  • Any events/ideas for matching players up to one another you have (No such thing as too much detail is all I can say; be enthusiastic!)

The group overall would be split into a casual team and a competitive team:

Competitive:

  • Would be led by the competitive leader/s
  • Try-outs every month or so for those in the casual team to have a try
  • S/S+, but if there aren't enough members, then A+ as an extension (Or if the leader gives permission)
  • This entire section could change depending on the competitive leader, so it should be updated with their rules/expectations

Casual:
  • Any rank or level
  • The aim is to play/meet players around your age and improve your skills
  • It's all pretty laid back
  • Casual leaders will arrange games between players, wither completely random or determined by skill
  • Again, casual leaders may add to this and change any rules/expectations accordingly

I love the diversity of ages, but I'd really like to have a way of meeting people around my age who play Splatoon. Hence why I created this massive post with me yapping on about this crazy idea I have.

If you're wondering what happens if you get beyond the maximum age of the group whilst in it: It's all about being in generation Z, so you're still allowed in! Generation Z itself is people born from 1995 to 2012, so in theory, the maximum age will increase as we get older, but younger members will still be around as it spans to 2012.

Just about every group seems to have either ink or squid in the names, so the group could alternatively called Generation Squid, or Generation Ink. I don't know, y'all just seem to love your squid puns a lot.
