I'm actually not upset that we didn't get a new ranked mode announced.

I'm pretty happy with what we got out of the Splatoon 2 Direct and what we can expect.

Who knows? Maybe there will be a new ranked mode in the future and we just haven't seen it.

Maybe. We get a year of new content. I do dig the fact that we have separate ranks depending on game mode now though.

In the place were you can see your rank for every mode there seems to be a place for another mode.
