You can go all out on any species of multicellular aquatic organism seeing as how Nintendo personified a couple, sedentary sea creatures such as anemones, ping-pong sponges, predatory tunicates, and even seaweed!

I had an idea of a rock music duo, they are both male Octolings with long tentacles, sort of like how male rock stars tend to have long hair. Both of them despised DJ Octavio and his hypnotic music, so they created their own duo in which their music actually makes anyone who had been hypnotized turn against the one who hypnotized them. In a story context, they would be a mysterious duo who would talk to the protagonist in secret, helping them learn the weaknesses of the antagonist. During Splatfests, not only their tentacles would be the ink color of the teams they are representing, but also their guitars as well.
