Is battle dojo a thing people do ever in splatoon?

The other day I was playing Splatoon. and I was just about to hit the lobby icon on my game pad when I noticed battle dojo. Like I always knew it was there in the back of my mind but I still never noticed it really. I clicked on it and it was giving me a small reading tutorial on what it is and how to do it. So after almost a year of owning this game, I never even clicked on the battle dojo icon. I recall it being in the Splatoon direct, but that is all i remember of it. Anyone actually play this mode at all?

Yeahhh... it's really out of the way, isn't it? I'd love to play with my sister, but we lack a Pro Controller. It does seem like some fun but it's awfully limited; it just hasn't received any love in updates, probably because Nintendo realised that it was the least-frequented part of the game and wasn't worth doing much work on.
