ガンガンいこうぜ (gangan ikou ze) vs. いのちだいじに (inochi daiji ni)
In English: Let's go all out! or Take care of our life (Be careful!)

Which would you choose! I think I'm gonna go all out!

ps. Are these okay translations (for those of you who know Japanese)? I have never played Dragon Quest, actually, so I'm not sure what the official localization is.

I forgot to get a screenshot, but the choices are:

I'll edit with more details! Which would you choose! I think I'm gonna go all out!

Here's the picture.
I've never played a Dragon Quest game before, but how do the themes relate to the game?

Dragon Quest? The game series?

In which case I must ask what the significance of the two sides are. Anything like the EU Barbarian vs. Ninja Splatfest, wherein the theme is "What's your playstyle?"

Thanks for the pic. I also haven't really played them... perhaps they are options on the battle menu. I'm very interested in hearing from someone who does know xD

okay so I asked a friend who has played the game and this is what they told me.
"You can either rush headlong into battle, or you can defend, see what the enemy can do, and take less damage."

Callie about to layeth the smackdown.

I wonder, since this is basically Japan's version of the EU Barbarians vs. Ninjas Splatfest, are the results going to be similar?
(Probably; Marie's lucky break ain't gonna last very long, methinks.)

Splatfest has started! And it is with the new ruleset.

Looks like "daiji ni" is the popular team by the way. Faced my own team a couple times so far.

How's it going for you? It could be my personal performance but I'm on Gangan and I feel like we aren't doing so hot :(

Decent I suppose. Started out winning most of my matches against gangan, but now I'm starting to lose more... Also with the update we now get more points for winning right? I think the most you could get before was 5 with 3 for winning and 2 for 400+ points, but now it is 6 for winning.

My current daiji ni power is 1591, made it to around 1660 or so, but started to lose more.
If I remember correctly, the splat power is higher with your rank when you start out and you are matched up with people of the same splat power.
I actually could see this splatfest being pretty close aside from popularity. (Or it could just be that a lot of high ranks are in daiji ni)

Currently I'm winning at least some of my matches with gangan, but I can't seem to win against my own team haha. Not sure if that is a good thing or not.

Interestingly, I'm seeing some people in groups with the same tagline so I think they must have somehow found each other by chance and are staying together in the same room.

As an aside, has anyone noticed that the Splatfest Power meter's eyes match those of the Squid Sister supporting the team you chose?

Here's the SP-meter for Gangan and Callie:

And here's the Daiji Ni/Marie version:

In comparison, here's the regular (non-Splatfest) Vibe Meter:

That's quite a neat detail the devs put in there. Now more than ever we can say we're on Team Callie/Marie during Splatfests!

Oh, I noticed they were different, but didn't realize that they were Marie's eyes haha.

splatfest is going really poorly for me.

my squiffer aim is BAD today and there are so many ninja-ing carbons. at least the enemy blaster players are sucking it up. there are a LOT of dittos for my team (the "life" team) and the most popular team tends to lose.

also kinda ticked off because i really wanted to try out the updated moray TW but it's NEVER coming up.

there's quite a bit of lag today (which is weird AF since japan-only times are usually the smoothest), so rollers are hitting me before their rollers fall and krakens before they reach me.

can't seem to break 1600 power points :/
it's bad.

If it makes yall feel any better on daiji ni team, I lost a LOT of matches for gangan. ^^; Oops! Cant be sure of the ratio, but I made it to eien level on both my main and my alt and it took a lot longer than I expected... haha. I did notice the opponents on my A rank alt being significantly more manageable than my S rank main because of the power difference. Interesting.

Overall fun splatfest and I enjoy the stage picks. @sammich , i got a pretty even ratio of the three! I LOVE the fixed Moray design. SO MUCH BETTER. I think I won more matches on Moray than any other stage today.

For those reading, the stage picks are Moray, Mahi Mahi and Blackbelly.

i'm doing much better!! i realized it's because i'm used to having my jacket with run speed main and 4 run speed subs and i managed to do better... then i switched to sploosh and now i'm in the mid 1700s. ┐(ツ)┌ it's easy now (though matches against gan-gan are a LOT harder than dittos)

edit:
LOL apparently people on the upper end of the spectrum are having trouble with finding opponents:
"everyone, come to the 1800s quickly~, it's worked out that we're only getting matched with the same people~

Oh interesting! So SF power will make the game like a pyramide in terms of meeting players :scared:
I wonder if people made notes about their starting power level in dependence of their ranked rang.
Like I don't know, Rank B starts with 400 power and S with 700.
