Okay so today while just trying to play splatoon my internet started acting up and I kept getting kicked out no matter what I did and its only been like this for like a few mins so I rarely ever have bad internet connection but has I was getting disconnected I noticed that I was losing my rank has I kept trying and I was like uhm not cool Nintendo?? Not everyone is blessed with good internet connection and while it might be annoying when it happens I dont think they should lose points over it? Like sure I get it maybe the person left on purpose and thats why they lost points but thats not always the case and I dont know i just think its kind of a low blow on nintendo's part? what do you guys think about this?

It's really annoying. Sometimes I'm pretty confident I'm not the one at fault for the disconnection yet I'll still lose rank points. Maybe give me a timeout like League of Legends or SSB, but why do I lose hard earned points for internet issues that may not be my fault?

One person mentioned that the Splatoon makers may have a hidden agenda behind this. I don't have any evidence to prove this except that it would be wise if you wanted players to keep playing longer (I feel like some players would just quit because of annoyance though, lol).

I have to say though, I'm really happy that in the recent update they made it so that if one player drops out on your team, you only lose 1 point. Before you'd still lose around 10 points on average, which was honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in a video game.

Yeah I agree like I sort of get why they are doing it but at the same time they shouldn't do it this way mostly because for one they dont know if the person playing splatoon started to get pissed off and left the group suddenly for all they know it could have been bad internet connection and or there Wii U suddenly or accidentally turned off its so stupid.

I do like the fact that if you lose a team mate while in ranked that you only lose one point but it kind of sucks for that person who could have lost like 5 or 10 points due to accidents like the ones I mentioned above and I feel as if its something Nintendo should fix and maybe make it like you said where the person doesn't lose any points but gets a time out instead it would make things a lot better and a lot less frustrating on the players part if they made it like that.

and Now I am like at A- 40 while I used to be A 6 I mean It wasn't much (I was having a bad play streak) But at least I was still in A. Too be honest I am a little Saltly.

Happens to me quite a bit..For some reason the Wii U is the ONLY device in the house that refuses to stay connected no matter what i do. We can shut off every device except that and it still get's almost no signal. The Wii U is a garbage system because of this..Why would you make a game that's specifically designed for online play and then put it on the only game system on the planet that get's the worst signal? that doesn't make sense..
Anyway, I actually put a video up on my YouTube page, showcasing this exact thing happening to me..It's pretty stupid.

You got a good point there I feel like there really need to upgrade the internet signal for the Wii U especially sense there making games that NEED the internet like Smash, Pokken and others I am sure there are more but those are the most popular ones I know I mean honestly Nintendo really should have fixed this problem ages ago seeing has there a huge company they should really just know better.

I haven't had the Wii U that long (since about February I think), so I wasn't aware of all the problems..Freaking terrible how much Nintendo doesn't seem to care too..I called them once about it and they wanted me to send it in and stuff, and they couldn't promise my save files would still be there..Not chancing all that time being wasted for a problem they not only couldn't fix, but hasn't even bothered to do anything about since it started in the first place..

I can understand penalizing people from quitting during a match since people do rage quit. If you know you've been having disconnection issues, I'd strongly recommend that you stay away from Ranked until you are positive that the issues have passed. If you keep trying and keep disconnecting... It's not really Nintendo's fault anymore. You know now that you lose points for a disconnect so there's no reason to continue if you know that you have a bad connection. Does it suck to lose points? Of course. But we know it happens so we need to be proactive about it.

With that said... I do think Nintendo needs to reconsider the punishment. The biggest issue is the Wii U itself. The Wii U, oddly enough, is not the best system at keeping a wifi connection. This is something I hope Nintendo fixes with the NX but for now... The problem often does lie with the Wii U. People who have solid connections will still get thrown off because of how bad the Wii U is at keeping connections. The only way to fully prevent this is a wired connection. I have one now and I never get disconnected anymore - but it's not always easy setting up a wire connection.

It's definitely something Nintendo needs to rethink for online games on the Wii U.

Well as much sense as your making, I have to disagree that, no it's not my fault. It is Nintendo's fault..It shouldn't be a problem in the first place. If they want to make their games mostly online noe, they need to make a system that's capable of it before putting it out. I shouldn't be penalized because Nintendo can't make a system that can play it's own freaking games..

With my laptop, the computer, 2 smartphones and the wii u on i still get great connection on my end. And without lag no less. So not sure if it's the wii u's at fault or your router.

I would have to agree with checking your router. I use a wired connection, and on top of my Wii U being connected, there's also 2 laptops, a desktop, a PS4, an XBOX ONE, bout 4 phones, and sometimes my 3DS connected and my connection is good. I have little to no issues and rarely do I get disconnected.

That's just it, we have one of the best routers out there..It's not the router..The Wii U is literally the only device in the entire house doing it..No matter where I put it too. When I want to use the connection on my PS3 or PS4 or my laptop, I get connection everywhere in the house..The Wii U is the only one getting a horrible connection. And I know for a fact I'm not the only one, as I've hundreds of people online talking about the same thing, not just with Splatoon, but with any game for the Wii U. It's the system itself. It's also pretty well known that it is the weakest system out there right now. Like compared to every other system, including hand helds, it's the one with the worst stuff (Idon't know the terms of what this stuff is, maybe Processor I think, but whatever itis,it's well known to be the worst one out there).

Well the only other suggestion is if you don't have a wired connection, try and get one.

I'll definitely try a wired connection and see if that changes things. Luckily I haven't had a DC in quite a while now.

So.. I just noticed something a little weird that pop a serious question in my head.. How the heck are you supposed to have a wired connection? I just looked and there's no Ethernet port.. There's the normal ports for the HDMI and power and the Wii sensor and 2 USB ports, but no Ethernet port.. So how how are your all having a weird connection when there's nothing to plug it in to?

Do you remember how the wii had a LAN adaptor so that if Wi-FI didn't work, you could use that instead? Well you need to have one of those. I easily bought one of those from gamestop, so you should do the same.

Nope. Never owned a Wii.. So I have no idea what that is. Does it still need to connect directly to the modem or router? If so then I'm not gonna even bother because it's not physically possible.. In order to do that, is have to put holes in the walls, which is not something my family who owns the house will allow.

Unfortunately, yes you still need to be connected directly to the modem/router for it. My family had to weave the cord around the room, rug, and walls for it. So I guess a wi-fi connection is the only thing possible if moving closer to where the router/modem is is impossible.

Well that blows then.. Guess I won't be playing much anymore.. I haven't been able to play for 3 days in a row because it refuses to connect.. Like I've said before, it's the only device that is doing it.. When I turn on my ps3 or ps4, they both never have problems and they are further away from the router then my WiiU is..

Playing Splatoon today. Match was almost up. Lose internet connection. Lose Rank, but gain no points for level. So you were able to calculate how much rank I'd lose, but not give me my points? ARE YOU FISHING SQUIDDING ME?!?

It doesn't calculate how much you lose. disconnects make you lose an automatic 10 (below S) or 5 (S and up) as a penalty for disconnecting.
