I've never really cared about ranked and I've always been in B rank but recently I've been playing it a lot more and I've encountered an issue

Most of the enemy team has the x rank badge (sometimes its gold or silver) and a lot of my matches only last 30 seconds and we get totally cleared so I was just wondering if any good players could give me any tips on how to get out of B rank hell?? Not sure if this is the right place to post this so lmk if I should put this somewhere else

(Also, this is specifically solo queue and I don't have any communication with my team so I need tips I can use alone)

Personally what I've found helps the best is to take the opportunity to practice awareness

Sometimes its better to hold back and not rush in when both sides still have 4 players, at the start of the game press X and look at the top right and see which enemy players have relavent abilities to watch out for like Stealth Jump/Drop Roller/ the occasional Opening Gambit/etc

If you see a teammate engaging a enemy from one angle and your in a position to shoot at that enemy from another usually its a good idea to force 2v1s over hoping your teammates will trade at least. And then ideally you want to make pushes only when the enemy has less players currently alive then you + push ahead of the objective to slow them down regrouping(ex: on tower control don't stand close to the tower have one person only stay on it and the other 3 players paint up)

my first recommendation is join a serious comp team becuz thats the best way to improve but if youre not into that youll just have to grind it out. Pick a good meta weapon like splash or splattershot, play games, review those games with the self aware mindset of "How could I have helped my teammates better?" Dont blame your teammates becuz you cant control their actions. Bonus: play salmon run for improving your movement

I recommend trying to find a friend who is higher rank and play open with them, it’s a lot easier to give tips when they can see what’s happening in game. Open is also a bit less stressful than solo.

Post some replay codes, We can then see how you play and at least give you some pushes on the right direction.
You can also watch Squid school videos on rank series made by gem.

2 things

1. For low ranks just focus on improving your fighting effectiveness so your aim and positioning

2. Make sure your playing anarchy series and not anarchy open bc you should not be getting X rank players in your series lobbies

It's hard to believe you're seeing silver and gold X rank badges in B rank, that shouldn't be a common roadblock. Maybe you'll see some silver or gold normal ranked badges though. I don't suggest joining a serious comp team in B rank, though it isn't out of the question to join a more casual one. Still wouldn't recommend even that. Everyone else recommending the squid school ranked series is 100% correct.

A common issue in B rank is that people focus too hard on the objective, and will throw themselves onto it, completely tunnel visioning and ignoring people trying to stop them from getting onto the objective. Part of ranking up at this stage is learning how to abuse people who do this, while also playing objective well yourself. Start clearing the area around the objective before you grab it. Also, try not to throw yourself at the enemy in a disadvantaged 1v4 scenario and die without doing anything, this is a very common low rank defensive mistake. So yeah this stage is all about learning caution.

hi first off i saw some people saying to pick meta weapons? in my opinion, thats not very good advice. i got out of b rank with the dapple dualies, a weapon i personally love playing that is quite frankly garbage. ive been playing a lot of mini and dread wringer recently in soloq since i just have fun with them.

as for actually improving at the game, squid school has a great series on how to get out of certain ranks. it was made for splatoon 2 but like 90% of the tips still apply. other than that, you do kinda just improve by playing and trying. have fun out there and remember to stay hydrated!! :D

make sure to take breaks.
My rule of thumb is if I go 3 games down in a row I take a 10 minute breather, even if I don't feel like I'm tilting

If its late at night sometimes I hop off entirely and play another game/go to sleep, its usually better to get some rest and practice in the mornings, to go from my C game to my A game.

I usually play on rotations that favour my weapons and it helped me get to S rank but I don't know how much this advise actually helps

if they're struggling in low ranks taking time to make a FA post and try to join a team might not be viable; it took me a long time to feel confident enough in my own skills to make a FA post and even then I didn't get any hits after a month so I decided to form my own team.

Not to gatekeep obviously but the skill floor someone needs to succeed in a competitive organized enviroment over anarchy open is different enough that I'd rather start advice by focusing on how they can improve in solo que, to form good habits that will then transfer well over to a organized enviroment

+1 to the user who suggested the Squid School video series, it helped me from A->S+ rank last year! Linked that here. I have to say I'm a little confused how top X rank players would be in B rank. Unless they are deliberately resetting rank and sandbagging to keep their rank low? Link: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlqxull1Xs9SvT9ojx-C6oRRgNBXTY6j7&si=npCpKdXYmLtzCwCl
I actually have had a few teams of people with the x rank badge squidbag me with spammy weapons, most of the people I see with the x rank badge play normally just at a higher skill level. I am familiar with squid school so I'll check out these videos, thank you for the help!

I have noticed that in series I get a lot more fair matchups so I'll take that into consideration, thanks!

Something that helps with this is to only focus on one specific task at a time. So during your game, keep one thing you want to be more aware of (e.g. I want to open the map more, I want to notice when the enemy has more team members than us) and try to keep it in the back of your mind. Do this until it becomes something you don't have to think about, and then move on to the next thing you want to improve at. I keep a list of things I want to work on so that I don't forget what I want to improve at.

Kind of adding onto this - I'd mostly tell people not to use super bad weapons as well, but Dapples specifically have shown to be strong in open. Several top 500 X-ranked players use stuff like the Dapples and Sploosh for example. It's a very different setting than you'll normally hear about on YouTube and stuff, and it's a lot less documented than what works when people are coordinating, so I wouldn't worry about weapons at all. Just play whatever you find fun or have the most success with and don't be afraid to experiment.

Otherwise, it's really hard to give advice when we can't see your gameplay, but looking at your own replays (or sending them here I'd love to help) might not be a bad idea. Sometimes it's hard to have any relevant takeaways, like it took me a LONG time to be able to do this, but whenever you see yourself in a losing situation try asking if there's anything you could have done differently.
