Kind of adding onto this - I'd mostly tell people not to use super bad weapons as well, but Dapples specifically have shown to be strong in open. Several top 500 X-ranked players use stuff like the Dapples and Sploosh for example. It's a very different setting than you'll normally hear about on YouTube and stuff, and it's a lot less documented than what works when people are coordinating, so I wouldn't worry about weapons at all. Just play whatever you find fun or have the most success with and don't be afraid to experiment.

Otherwise, it's really hard to give advice when we can't see your gameplay, but looking at your own replays (or sending them here I'd love to help) might not be a bad idea. Sometimes it's hard to have any relevant takeaways, like it took me a LONG time to be able to do this, but whenever you see yourself in a losing situation try asking if there's anything you could have done differently.
Looking at your own replays but from the enemy players POV can be helpful as well

I'll often take risky pushes or flanks then look back at the replay from the players POV that splatted me and see exactly when and where it went wrong, which is very useful

I've never really cared about ranked and I've always been in B rank but recently I've been playing it a lot more and I've encountered an issue

Most of the enemy team has the x rank badge (sometimes its gold or silver) and a lot of my matches only last 30 seconds and we get totally cleared so I was just wondering if any good players could give me any tips on how to get out of B rank hell?? Not sure if this is the right place to post this so lmk if I should put this somewhere else

(Also, this is specifically solo queue and I don't have any communication with my team so I need tips I can use alone)
I highly recommend watching video guides on thing's you may want to improve on. For your rank probably taking fights, and awareness. A long with this I recommend weapon guides especially for ones you're interested in. Taking breaks is one thing but you can use those breaks and watch others play and learn from viewing what they do. This latter example helped me become a Range Blaster main. Found ProChara's channel one day and saw how he played and said "I can do that" and now its my best weapon. Where you want to start to get better is entirely up to you though.

hi first off i saw some people saying to pick meta weapons? in my opinion, thats not very good advice. i got out of b rank with the dapple dualies, a weapon i personally love playing that is quite frankly garbage. ive been playing a lot of mini and dread wringer recently in soloq since i just have fun with them.

as for actually improving at the game, squid school has a great series on how to get out of certain ranks. it was made for splatoon 2 but like 90% of the tips still apply. other than that, you do kinda just improve by playing and trying. have fun out there and remember to stay hydrated!! :D
Yea I should clarify when i say Play Meta Weapons its more like Dont Play Bad Weapons. Like you should play what you enjoy but like theres a stark difference between inkbrush and inkbrush nouveau. Can you defeat b rank with inkmines and hammer? Probably. Would it be easier with splatbombs and killer wail? Absolutely lol

I don't expect everyone to read every single post since there's a lot even just in this thread but this plays to the point I was making earlier, what's good in open is not the same as tournament settings. When people aren't in a voice call it's way harder to know where an Inkbrush is, so the Nouveau kit's single biggest problem of "it can't get in" is now MUCH more manageable. If Inkbrush Nouveau didn't have that problem it'd be way better in tournaments so suffice to say it definitely has a place in solo, especially where Stamp is a lot better as well since most comps on average will have less shooters than usual.

Once again, I wouldn't worry about weapon choice for now - it's a very different setting. Just as long as you're willing to try a bunch of stuff out.

Agree w what youre saying 100% you can get away w a lot more in ranked for sure but i still believe youre generally setting yourself up for more success if you opt for a "good" (good being subjective) weapon IF your one goal is to win. Believe me im the biggest fan of inkmines. I played luna neo in 2, it was comedy. OP, as you can see this is a pretty subjective topic. I believe you should mess around and play what you enjoy 🤗
