Looking at your own replays but from the enemy players POV can be helpful as wellKind of adding onto this - I'd mostly tell people not to use super bad weapons as well, but Dapples specifically have shown to be strong in open. Several top 500 X-ranked players use stuff like the Dapples and Sploosh for example. It's a very different setting than you'll normally hear about on YouTube and stuff, and it's a lot less documented than what works when people are coordinating, so I wouldn't worry about weapons at all. Just play whatever you find fun or have the most success with and don't be afraid to experiment.
Otherwise, it's really hard to give advice when we can't see your gameplay, but looking at your own replays (or sending them here I'd love to help) might not be a bad idea. Sometimes it's hard to have any relevant takeaways, like it took me a LONG time to be able to do this, but whenever you see yourself in a losing situation try asking if there's anything you could have done differently.
I'll often take risky pushes or flanks then look back at the replay from the players POV that splatted me and see exactly when and where it went wrong, which is very useful
