so it seems the most likely that they'll end content releases on a high note.

If it's the very end of Splatoon content (aside from Splatfests and balance patches) it'd make sense to me to have them go out with something at least a little bigger than just saying "here's a new weapon lol thanks for playing bye"

Well, the dances themselves weren't made for the trailer, as they're the same dances performed by Inklings at Splatfest and the dance performed in front of the cafeteria in Inkopolis Plaza at normal times.
