honestly just play with what you find fun. over time you'll naturally just get better with that weapon. the balance of the game is good enough that you can play almost anything and still do good as long as you as a player are good enough at the game. thats all I have, other ppl like dz prolly have better advice tho so

lmao I appreciate it but you basically got it. If you're not playing this game competitively you should just be playing whatever you find the most fun. Bennet, you're a Turf War player, right? If so then Aerospray and Wiper both are plenty good enough of choices for you to win if you're playing well. If I'm losing a bunch of games with those then I wouldn't look to my weapon choice as the reason why.

With Turf War especially there can be games where you just lose for what feels completely out of your control. It's honestly a part of the reason I never play Turf War. On a bad day you may see a lot of those kinds of games. It happens. If those bad days are common, though, it becomes harder to call it a coincidence and there's probably something you as a player are doing wrong. I can't tell you what that might be since I've never seen your gameplay before but it's worth keeping in mind.

I play a little bit too competitively, (I am not kidding, there will be some instances where if the team I am on if I think that we won then find out that we lost then I yell "Rigged" almost instantly and constantly), but yes I am mainly a turf war player, and yes I do agree with you that RG and wiper are good at turf war, but the main thing is I need something to splat all those players who camp your super jump spot tho.

Yeah this isn't something that weapon choice will fix. Some of them technically have more options when landing from a super jump. Are you running shoes with Stealth Jump? If not then I would heavily consider it, it's one of the best abilities in the game for exactly this reason.

If you already are running it then you can still try being a bit more careful about who you jump to. After you die, while you're waiting to respawn, click the map open and watch what areas are and aren't being painted to try and see where enemies might be. There is no perfectly foolproof way to tell every time but if you're going jumping to someone who you know has an enemy near them, then your jump will probably get camped. If you're jumping to someone who is surrounded by enemy paint, there's a realistic chance they get taken out and your jump will get camped.

Yeah, Drop Roller isn't nearly as good as Stealth Jump. You're still plenty vulnerable and putting your hopes on your opponents messing up. If you don't have any shoes with Stealth Jump then I'd actually consider running around the Splatlands (I forget the name of the city hub lmao) and seeing what gear people have. If the game gives you real people and not those fake NPCs meant to look like real people then there's a decent chance you'll find at least someone with them to order from Spyke / Murch.

ok, listen closely, I left Splatsville to stay in Inkopolis square for the rest of the time I play Splatoon 3! (except for splatfests if I win a 100x battle)

Rather than repeating the previously laid out advice, I'll also recommend you try out the Splat Roller. You lose out on some paint, but its splatting power is much better than that of Wiper of Aerospray. It's also able to start a vertical flick mid-super jump to splat enemies on landing. If you're looking for something more aggressive, it's like a good choice.

I'd recommend playing NES Zapper too. It paints similarly to aerospray but Zapper has much better kill power compared to aero and it also has kits that encourage aggression, especially the gray Zapper.

Forge is also a good option. It also has a booyah bomb like gold aero but it's much better at fighting and it's a mid range. You lose paint but Forge can still decently paint for itself.

If you insist on playing Wiper I got some tips as someone who has a five star Wiper.
  1. Use your range. Wiper's a midline weapon and it outranges a decent amount of weapons, especially shooters. Staying back and using that range can make the difference between getting a splat or getting splatted yourself.
  2. Torpedo combos very well with Wiper. An opponent chipped down by a torpedo can take only one or two tap shots to kill. Rolling a torpedo on the ground is also a good way to get some damage.
  3. When using hammer, be smart about it. Activating hammer makes you a sitting duck for about a second, which means you can't just activate it in a panic, you have to be strategic with your hammer usage. If you need to turn around quickly, you can always go into swim form and turn around instead of sluggishly turning around during rush mode. The throw is also very powerful, especially since it got buffed. Sometimes the best option is to just throw the hammer right then and there and get a pick that way.
  4. Use a lot of Quick Respawn. Wiper isn't really gear dependent, which means its super aggressive playstyle is rewarded best with quick respawn.

trust me I've picked up roller in the first three months of me playing Splatoon 3 and now I dropped it and I now kinda suck at playing roller

I may as well give a Slosher advertisement! Slosher does a great job at fighting, which could help out at what you want it to do. Having a two shot at its range, especially since it retains that two shot over cover despite damage falloff. Plus that kit is great. It's got a bunch of AoE sure, but I think Splat Bomb is something that can be used well by any player, and Strike can be used for some last second turf.

I also wanted to chime in about Drop Roller. DzNutzKong is exactly right in that Stealth Jump is the better pick for keeping your jump safe. Making your jump hard to find keeps your enemy from acting on that knowledge. Drop Roller provides little protection, since I find that given the net code you can be attacked even when the roll should give you enough distance. Plus chargers and other one shots can pick you off before the roll, and players nearby can often react to it. Yet I still run it on Slosher Deco, in my competitive games. I love it because it goes well with Zipcaster, giving me more times to activate it and give me those speed abilities. This lets me use Drop Roller in the opposite way most people would initially think to use it: rather than getting away with more aggressive, front-line jumps, I use it to make safe jumps deeper in the backline more worth it. I use that 3 seconds of 3 Mains of swim speed to get right back to where I need to be. The roll itself is more of a last resort should everything go wrong, in my eyes.

1. Aerospray is just a lose button. Sure, it can paint, but you'll die in almost every encounter because you can't fight, meaning massive downtime, meaning less paint overall through the whole match.

Alternatives such as the Jr. can actually fight, while maintaining high paint output, while also having better kits.

2. Perhaps experiment with high-range weapons? They're very intimidating but also quite fun.

Jr. is pretty much equal to Aerospray in terms of main weapon fighting power, but Jr. has a better kit for a passive support role, which is why it sees more use. Aerospray can be decent when it's given a good support kit. That's probably why Nintendo refuses to give it one.

If you want a support shooter that can actually fight with its main weapon, pick N-ZAP.
…'85, to be clear.
