I don't think I have seen anyone doing this yet.
So here goes...
Yes, we feared the Octolings during our first playthrough.
Since they could do the exact same moves, that you can do.
And they could kill you so quickly, once at the proper range.
So of course, we wanted them gone without dying ourselves.
But once we have learnt of the darker and somewhat depressing backstory of Splatoon and of the Octoling's cuteness, they have actually grown on us.
And now we are feeling sorry for them. Not wanting to kill them.
So I took matters into my own hands, played through the entire Single Player again and see if there is a way, that involves not killing Octolings.
Outside the Octoling Invasion levels, sadly you are forced to kill them.
Either to activate a launchpad or to get a key or something.
However, interestingly enough, you actually don't have to kill any of them, during the Octoling Invasion missions.
You just have to reach the Zapfish.
So this was my cue...
OCTOLING INVASION - NO KILL CHALLENGE
The objective is fairly simple.:
Play through ALL 4 "Octoling Invasion" missions, WITHOUT LETTING A SINGLE ONE OF THEM DIE!
If just one of them dies, you have to start over.
Regardless if intended or not.
I actually managed to do it myself.
And personally, it wasn't that difficult overall.
But the third and fourth one, can be tricky to pull off.
Especially the fourth one, where you actually have to indirectly save one Octoling's butt, to avoid her dying.
Nevertheless, I have pulled it off.
Unfortunately, I have no way to record WII U footage. So I have no proof.
But feel free to try it yourself.
And if there are any speedrunners among you, why not posting your best times for each of the levels? :D
EIther way, I would also like to see thing becoming a video-thing.
I'd be excited to see videos of people pulling this off.
