questions for chargers or i guess anyone?

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question but I can't get to play Splatoon often. The internet isn't great at my place, so I left it at home. So I'm sorta new to a lot of things, unspoken rules, and the like, so I have lots of questions if that's ok?

One is that if i'm there with a charger or anyone i guess and they're going after a squid, do I help them or do I stay out of the way and move on? Some people are like help and some people are like don't do it, or does it depend on the situation?

Also how do I say sorry when I accidentally keep getting in the way?

In my opinion you should try to help. But you don't approach them head on, you would just be getting in the chargers way, you should instead try to swim around and flank them to get that splat. If it's a custom E-Litre and they have their special ready, just leave them.
