Would following a seeker be a better option for out of the gate rushing at the start of a match?

hypotheticlly yes, since you're swimming up a straight path where you don't lose momentum, but it can't turn around corners, it detonates, it takes time to angle it right, etc... the time saved by using it might only be half a second or so, depending on the map. not to mention, you can combine it with splatterhops and splatdashes, you don't have to stick to one or the other

Squid form & seeker is faster than splatdashing, but doesn't cover as much areas.

Splatdashing also allows for a retreat, even in enemy ink.

So if you are expecting to be offensive out of the gate, I'd go with the seeker. If you are playing defense, probably splatdashing, leave your sub weapon to be a surprise to the other team.
