I don't think we should be using Nintendo's opinions at all, really. Their opinions on competitive play are not to be trusted...
Thats somewhat what I wrote in my controversial essay. Still, since they are video game developers and have had years of experience, doesn't that warrant them some credibility?

I'm going to reiterate some thoughts...

Turf War carries a, "negative connotation;" casual game mode. As is, I do not, see turf war becoming a, "competitive mode." This isn't to say the competitive side of Turf War is nonexistent, I just don't think the same amount of skill is needed, to win in each game mode. Personally, I do not think the competitive aspect, of Turf War is tantamount to Splat Zone. My beliefs stem from the lack of structure Turf War has; among other things... Again, I am not saying Turf War is not competitive, I just don't think the two are comparable in this regard... But I digress.

If Turf War ends up on the rank playlist or it becomes a thing for skirmishes and such, I'll adept. Till then, I'm against the notion.

Their aim is to bring us fun games, but they do not know how to care for a competitive scene, and their opinions on what is a good competitive game mode, what should be played as such, aren't very credible.

I do believe that if we do determine Turf War has got competitive merit, we should do our best move away from negative connotations and promote it for what it is. However, I do have a hard time seeing it as a competitive mode, but there are ways it can be portrayed as such.
