Splatoon Bandwidth Usage?

For while I've been thinking of how much Internet bandwidth Splatoon bandwidth. I've been thinking of the idea of local get-together style tournaments for a month or two now and I believe that bandwidth is a major factor when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I have my WiiU usually connected to a 2mb/s internet speed in San Diego and experience almost no lag, even against Japanese players. TWC is great in San Diego. However, I'm at my parents house for the summer and they have 130mb/s and it lags horribly on TWC.
So quality > speed.

My WiiU is on Wifi but it's literally right on top of the wifi box.

I've heard a couple negative reviews for LAN adapters in general (not splatoon specific), but I think the majority still said it helps.

Yeah, always go wired if you plan on setting up a local tourney.
