So Side Order lets you upgrade different parts of your weapons from speed, range, power etc. etc.
This has led me to think about the possibility of creating the Ultimate Splatling. One that combines all the strengths of the different Splatlings. The charging speed of Mini, the strafing speed of Edit, the range and firing time of Hydra, the recharge and accuracy of Ballpoint and the chargehold of Nautilus.

I will be posting my progress on this goal in this thread.

Now the idea isn't necessarily to max out the different stats, but to simply get them to the same level as the various Splatlings'. For example; you only need 3 Charge Storage chips to match the amount of time Nautilus can hold charge (Naut holds for 3.33 seconds, 3 chips let you hold charge for 3.75 seconds)
Some abilities are more difficult to figure out the right amount of colour chips for, due to the fact that I do not know the stats of the Order Splatling. I'm going to assume that it's stats are the same as the Heavy Splatling's for simplicity's sake. All the specific chip amounts I figured out by doing some math based on the Heavy's stats compared to other Splatlings and by simply feeling it out.

The chips I will aim for are:

Run Speed Up x5
Charge Storage x3
Splatling Barrage x5
Shot-Spread Reduction x4
Quick Charge x4
Midfire Charge
Main Range x5

I wont be investing in any form of main damage simply due to how differently damage works in Side Order. That and the various types of main weapon damage increasing chips makes the whole math more complicated. If I had the raw data of the Side Order weapons, I would try to math out the chip combinations, but alas I do not.

This list of chips raises a few problems regardless:

1. The colour variety.
To create the Ultimate Splatling, I need to collect multiple chips from 4 different colour groups. And only one of those groups is favored by DJ Octavio's pallette. There might be wisdom in turning off the colour-chip bias hack, but I will try with the hack on for at least a little bit.

2. DJ Octavio's pallette.
I know that the pallettes are supposed to be pieces of someone's soul or whatever. But why, WHY is the Splatling pallette's most favored chip type the Drone chips. DJ Octavio needs to get out of his stupid machines and embrace the joy of Spinning more if this is what those mechs do to one's soul.
At least mobility chips are the second most common type here. But DJ Octavio is making this challenge infinitely more difficult than it needs to be.

This sounds like such a cool idea but from my own experiences trying to get specific chips, I'm sure it'll end up being a very long and tedious process.
Regardless, good luck trying to achieve the "Ultimate Splatling"!

What kit would you aim for though? Would you keep wall/booyah, go for the vheavy kit, a weird bpn mishmash with ink mine/ink storm?

Now that's assuming you're not already struggling to get your chips though, good luck!

I also had some unique chip builds I wanted to go after like recreating the Grizzco roller. Similar to Octavio's palette though Callie wants nothing to do with mobility chips which I need for the roll speed. Good luck and have fun with your quest!!!

Wall/Booyah is already the ultimate Heavy kit and it's a crime it's not usable in pvp.
So yeah, not gonna worry too much about the kit.

I love the mental image of the Spire of Order (aside from its intended function of helping Sanitization victims) being used by the Squidbeak Splatoon to test various dangerous, experimental, unlicensed weapons for future use in their secret agent work within a safe enviroment. And you're currently developing the next gen Hero Splatling... Hero Splatling Mk II? Order Spinner EX? You should pick a name for it tbh, this is awesome!

So this first run was mostly there to help me solidify my chip amounts, mainly Run Speed as I had trouble getting the chip in my initial testings.

In doing so I found out that you cannot get to Mini/Edit strafing speed in Side Order, assuming Order Splatling's strafing speed is the same as Heavy's (feels like it at least). 5 Run Speed chips increase your strafing speed 166% In order to reach Mini/Edit speed, you'd need to increase run speed 170%.
In practice this isn't that big of a deal, but as someone who does use Edit a lot, it is noticeable.
Still even if it's not quite the same speed, max Run Speed Order Splatling is still very fast.

On another note, the early game is vital in this challenge. Many runs die before they can truly begin due to running out of Membux for rerolling floors. I also dont have the final upgrade for the Membux reward hack yet, but I'll get that soon enough, just a couple of full runs. I don't see it helping the early game that much though.

Quick Update on this:

I had a near-perfect run going for a while where I got nothing but the chips I wanted and a lot of double chip floors. Only had one floor where I was forced to take an extra Shot-Spread Reduction chip, ending up with 5 of them instead of the 4 I outlined in my goal.
That run ended towards the end because my hands were a bit too jittery and I fell off a perch and got mauled to death. Oops.

But! interesting things to note about that run:

1. I got maximum Splatling Barrage here and timed that the Order Splatling's firing time becomes about 4.5 seconds. This is a solid 0.2 seconds longer than the Hydra Splatling's fire. Perhaps 4 Splatling Barrage chips is enough to match Hydra's 4.33s firing time. I was unfortunately unable to test this out as I got the last two chips at the same time on a double chip floor. Will try to test that in future runs.

2. Turning the Colour Chip bias to slight bias helped a lot. I was hesitant to turn it down at first due to needing Mobility chips, but in the end the amount of Mobility chips I need is far lesser than the amount of Support and Range chips I need. And all the Drone chips were starting to seriously piss me off as well. Simply turning the hack to slight bias lessened the amount of triple Drone chip options significantly.

And on a different note, I realised I haven't gone over why I'm not aiming for any Ink Saver Main chips. The most ink-efficient Splatlings are the Mini Splatling and the Nautilus. These bad boys can charge fully 6.67 times. Meanwhile the Order Splatling can get aboooout 3.3 full charges. Which is frankly abysmal, only barely beating the Hydra Splatling's 2.86 full charges. And ink-efficiency is supposed to be Hydra's key weakness.
But I'm still not going for any Ink Saver chips. I do not feel that ink efficiency is key to any Splatling's identity. You dont pick Mini or Nautilus for their ink efficiency. You pick them for their speed and good turfing/mobility and slaying ability respectively.
That being said, if I end up forced to take a chip outside of my list, I wouldn't mind it being Ink Saver Main.

Ha! My third run is also incredibly blessed. In fact this one was so so close to being The Runtm!

If those Ink Saver Main chips were Charge Storage chips instead, this challenge would've ended right here. But alas.
I did talk about Ink Saver Main in my last post, so maybe if I talk about Charge Storage here, I'll end up getting it in my next run. Hm, not sure if I have much to say about it though.
Hmm, well. I suppose I could mention that I find Charge Storage to be kinda eh in Side Order specifically. At least when it comes to chips that add something the the Order Splatling's charge mechanic. I find Midfire Charge to be much more valuable than Charge Storage. In my previous run I had a lot of Charge Storage but no Midfire Charge and I found that run to be far more challenging.
Incidentally that run ended on a floor where I got the Midfire Charge chip. Ah... if only I didn't walk off the edge.

Do you not have the option to Continue using Prlz from the Side Order menu?
you lose all your membux and the floor options get rerolled if you use the continue. The lack of funds is the main reason runs die, so it is pretty much impossible to go back using that feature.

ehhh... Hydra is too slow and ink-hungry to really make use of wall. Auto/Booyah is a perfectly fine kit for it, even if a tad lacking in synergy for the main itself

Starting proper runs is a little rough in Side Order, since the only way to get 500 membux at the start is to play at least to floor 5 in your previous runs. And I've also realised that you kinda need your first floors to have a chip that's in the list. Rerolling the first couple floors leaves you dry really quick. So yeah, getting a run going takes a bit of resetting.

But I did get a run going! I ended up getting a lot of membux halfway through the run, which let me do a lot of resetting. But alas, I still didn't get what I needed. Double chip floors are very valuable, but seem best for chips that I need to fully max out, like Run Speed and Main Range. I only really got doubles of Shot Spread Reduction and Quick Charge, which was a bummer.

Also! This time I got to test out the firing time with 4 Splatling Barrage chips and basically confirmed that I do indeed need the 5 chips I initially listed out. 4 chips allows the Order Splatling to fire for aboout 4 seconds, a little less. I figured as much, since that's what my initial math told me, but still I feel better after actually putting it to the test. Honestly this is a good thing, since maxing out a stat does mean that those chips no longer show up in future floors, making it easier to increase the other stats.

Long time no update.
Not for a lack of trying, I have been steadily picking away at this challenge. But alas, luck has not been with me these past attempts.

But I did just get a run going, one that ended with a seriously short chip list.

What I've gathered from this run is that Vending Machine floors are evil. I had originally considered them a double-edged sword due to the potential of them giving out multiple chips that I need. However, after this run I've decided to turn off all hacks that guarantee Vending Machine floors. Not only are the chances of them giving chips I need rather low, but rerolling the Vending Machine is also much much more expensive than rerolling floors. Not only that, but on floors with guaranteed Vending Machines, you cannot reroll them away. They stick, the guarantee is eternal.

It's simply not worth it.

On a different note, all these failed runs have given me enough Pearlz to buy the maximum weapon damage hack. Which I think is probably the simplest way to get Hydra damage in Side Order. At least based on my (very simple) math, max weapon damage is more or less the closest equivalent to Hydra's full-charge damage.
