enter the world of Kim Mo-Mi. A 28 year old in a lookist society. Perfect Body, Ogrish Face.
she used to be loved as a child, Loving the attention. but in her teens, ugliness creeped up on her. everyone hated her while the pretty people got away with everything.
Meet Kim Mo-Mi as a 28 year old in 2009.
Monolid eyes, tall stature. Working as an average office worker. Still loves the spotlight. In a world where prettiness rules, she builds a stage for herself in her house under the persona of Mask Girl. Everyone loves her as mask girl. Dancing to the latest pop song and an obscured face, she gains a following.

everything is fine in her life. she has a mediocre office job ran by the privileged males, a tight workplace. as a girl named Lee A-Reum hands coffe to the higher ups, when in reality she just added coffee mix to some water. they obsess over her, but one doesn't. Meet Mr. Park. A Mysterious Work-Loving Man. Sweet once you know him. Mo-Mi develops a crush on him. But he's Married. While she fawns over his work ethic, Mr. Park is editing pictures of himself to upload on instagram. At Night, Mask girl decides to do some activities. The next morning, Mr. Park Berates her. Kim contemplates oof while her friend, Yoo talks about the workplace. Later, Mr. Park is drinking and making jokes with the other bosses. Yoo decides to talk about harassment infront of her higher ups. Meanwhile the bosses browse PangTV, where Mask Girl streams and they say she's the coolest without knowing it was Kim Mo-Mi.

Mo-Mi asks Park to drive her home. Park lies to his wife about being alone. Mo-Mi wonders why and thinks he loves her. Later that night on her stream, she spills the tea and the chat says she's being delusional. Mask girl blocks those people. she says she won't marry hi, and says she's for her audience. next morning, shelly tells Mo-Mi he updated his socials. He tells A-Reum to do better. At Night, Mo-Mi and A-Reum are the last people at work for the day. They have a civil discussion. Just As Mo-Mi leaves, she sees park go up the elevator. She follows him into the office. she checks her things. she sees his office ad sees A-Reum and Park Making out. Later that night she cries and decides to get super drunk and does something bad on stream and gets suspended. She wakes up next morning with her mask on late for work. Kim Mo-mi grew up with dreams of becoming a pop star, but was thwarted by her plain looks. By day, she works in an office, and by night she runs a popular livestream channel where she wears a mask and performs as "Mask Girl". Mo-mi's life is upended when she discovers that Park Gi-hoon, her boss and the man whom she has feelings for, is having an affair with another co-worker, Lee A-reum. Mo-mi's popularity plummets after she loses her livestream and confesses her woes to a regular Mask Girl viewer, unaware he is her co-worker, Ju Oh-nam.

Ju Oh-nam is a loner and a regular viewer of Mask Girl's channel, recognizing her to be Kim Mo-mi based on her hands. Oh-nam falls in love with Mo-mi, but is unable to express his feelings. Mo-mi meets a Mask Girl's obsessive fan who tries to do something to her, but he is knocked out in a scuffle. Oh-nam comes to Mo-mi's aid; he oofs the man and disposes of the person. Traumatized by her experiences, Mo-mi abruptly quits her job and undergoes plastic surgery, exasperating Oh-nam. Oh-nam does something to Mo-mi, and Mo-mi oofs him to oof.

Kim Kyung-ja is Oh-nam's overbearing mother, who struggled to raise him as a single parent. When Oh-nam becomes uncontactable, Kyung-ja has the police break into his apartment, where they find the remains of Oh-nam's oofed. Later, the police also find Oh-nam's oofs in a suitcase. Kyung-ja believes that Mo-mi, who has been revealed to the public to be Mask Girl, is Oh-nam's oofer, and vows revenge. Kyung-ja's investigation leads her to a woman named Kim Chun-ae, whom she grabs. Chun-ae insists that she is not Mo-mi, but claims to know her.

Mo-mi helps Chun-ae oof her live-in partner, and the pair make their escape. Mo-mi reveals to Chun-ae that she is a criminal. They are confronted by Kyung-ja, and in the melee, Kyung-ja oofs Chun-ae, and Chun-ae bams Kyung-ja's head before oofing. Mo-mi dumps the two in a lake. Some time later, Mo-mi is arrested.

Kim Mi-mo is Mo-mi and Oh-nam's daughter. As a baby, Mi-mo was given to her grandmother shortly before Mo-mi surrendered to the police and was sent to prison. Growing up, Mi-mo is bullied for being Mask Girl's daughter, and becomes a loner who lashes out. At a new school, Mi-mo befriends Ye-chun, a compulsive liar who is also a loner. The pair plan to run away together. Mi-mo overhears that the other students have learned that she is the daughter of Mask Girl; Mi-mo beats up Ye-chun, assuming that she told everyone. However, the info was spread by Kyung-ja, who is still alive.

In prison, Mo-mi initially antagonizes An Eun-suk, a prisoner with powerful connections. Years later, an older Mo-mi receives a letter from Kyung-ja that contains a news article about Mi-mo's troubled life; Mo-mi attempts to escape but fails. After over a month in solitary confinement, Mo-mi seemingly turns over a new leaf and offers to donate her kidney to Eun-suk's daughter, who needs it. Kyung-ja, who has had plastic surgery, meets Mo-mi and tells her about how she befriended Mi-mo, repeatedly sabotaged her life, and intends for Mo-mi to feel the same pain of the oof of a child.
