Imagine how the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco (whew) would be in TC. Take the already great fire rate and range of the original, and add Disruptors which can help you cripple the other team's riders, as well as a fast charging Killer Wail for clearing the towers.

Now that I think about it, all the rapid blasters are somewhat underrated. They have a high learning curve, but can safely and quickly splat foes with a bunch of Damage Ups.
I can't wait for the Deco. Disruptors on this weapon seem almost unfair, with some bomb range up perks you might be able to win duels before they even begin. Throw a disruptor at some unfortunate soul as soon as you see them in the distance, pop pop they're dead.

lt also seems like it'd be a great way to alleviate the weapon's biggest weakness, which is its tendency to get easily outmaneuvered and dominated at mid and close range. See a Tentatek, Nzap or Sploosh rapidly approaching, throw a disruptor, move back to your optimal range, goodnight.

And yes, all Rabid Blasters are underrated and good in TC. The original has the perfect TC set with bubbler and inkmines too, but personally l feel the extra bit of range of the RBP makes all the difference.

Turf War:
Anything really. Whatever you are comfortable with. Aerosprays, nzaps, splattershots, and dual squelchers seem good here. Rollers are solid and even chargers can fill a role. Blasters can be a bit tougher to use effectively, but if you know what you are doing you can succeed.

Rainmaker:
Anything with a kraken or killer wail. .52 gal, .96 deco, custom Dual Squelcher/Jet Squelcher.

Tower Control:
Blasters. Rollers. Anything with killer wail. Bubblers and krakens also work well.

Splatzones:
Squelchers, gals, splattershots, pros, chargers. Anything with a bit of range that can cover turf well.

Bottom line though, play what you are comfortable with and you can be successful.

Part of the reason for my above statement is that the Splash Wall is a beast in every ranked mode. It's just like a bubbler in that it provides you with short-term invincibility but it doesn't increase your opponents impact or have to be charged. Killer is not the most effective special for sz but it can stop your opponent from getting to the objective.

Every post above gives you an idea of what is effective in different modes but remember that a team of only .96 decos or jet squelchers or whatever won't be especially effective because they all fill the same/similar roles. Its worth having a weapon to play defense (usually chargers), front line, support, for ink coverage, etc. The important thing is to choose a weapon that best fits your playstyle but its also worth trying out different weapons. You might just find another weapon you enjoy.
