Where'd you get your username?

[MandatoryCatalyst]

I'm a passive fan of the web series "No Evil" (Go watch it it's really good I promise), and I really like the character Calamity, so I took that to use as my handle when playing Smash Bros with friends. I never even played online, so it's not like I had any particular reason to need one, but I wanted to, so I did. Of course, "Calamity" is taken on basically every platform ever and not something I could ever easily go by, so I landed on "MandatoryCatalyst" because it just sounds cool. Most websites I'm okay with people finding me on are under the username RetroCatalyst however, because "MandatoryCatalyst" is just one letter too long for most places, so RetroCatalyst is my go-to most of the time, since it's just easier. That one was actually recommended by an old friend of mine, I'd been looking to change my username from what it was at the time, and figured I'd go to my old Smash Bros handle, but since, as mentioned, MandatoryCatalyst is just too long, they suggested "Retro" as the prefix since hey, I like retro aesthetics! So now it's RetroCatalyst most places, Catalyst anywhere that doesn't require unique names for each player, and MandatoryCatalyst here because this is one of the rare occasions I DON'T have to contend with character limits preventing me!

Well, I have two reasons. The first being my real name is "Nico" (so... kinda the same) and the second being that i like cats and people used to make fun of me in kindergarten or something about how my name was cat

in short, squib sounds cool and is short enough to say easily
but obviously squib is taken everywhere so i turned it into the best splatoon pun ANYONE HAS EVER SEEN. FIGHT ME

anyway this took like 5 years to come up with because it took discord's username change thing for me to let myself use random sounds
