Good afternoon, Whiprays!
Tony and I are starting a Being Better Whiprays initiative to improve our play and our experience. As part of that, we're going to be considerably more captain-ey. So if we suddenly seem like we're way more official and important, it's because we are. Super official. Super important. We're working on procuring very large and fancy hats to drive this point home.
Here's how this newsletter is going to go down. I'm going to try to keep it short and simple.
1. Practices, and what they'll be like from now on
2. Scrims and how we'll be doing more of them
3. Things we can improve on
4. New ~*RULE*~ (you're probably already following it)
5. Additional Thoughts...
1. Practices and You!
Practices are going to start looking a little different. From now on, Tony and I will take a poll with each weekly newsletter on what you guys want to spend the following week practicing. Then, when practice time rolls around, depending on who all can show up, Tony and I will have what we're going to work on planned ahead of time. This way there's no more dead time of us going "uuuhhhh what do?" and more of us utilizing our time to its full potential.
2. Scrims and also You!
We're going to be making an effort to find a scrim for every practice. We won't always get one, but we're going to ask around during each practice and at least play a couple a week. If you know a team that wants to scrim, let me or Tony know and we'll try to coordinate one.
3. Things We Can Improve On (read: Things that will be showing up in what-to-practice polls)
4. New Rule (is a thing starting now)
As a new requirement, Tony and I think everyone should be able to hold their own with at least two (2) different weapons (by type, ie: my being able to use all types of sloshers doesn't count). Now, if you're only super great with one type of weapon right now, don't worry! We're not going to kick you out or anything. I'm only good with one type of weapon right now myself. We just want you to pick up something new in the next couple of weeks. Find something that feels nice and practice with it in off time until you feel comfortable rotating it in during regular practice. For me, I think it's going to be the L3 Nozzlenose D. For Tony, it's looking like the .52 gal. If you can already comfortably switch between at least 2 types of weapons, you're all good. We just want some more variety and options for weapon composition.
5. Additional Thought~
So, it's never been explicitly discussed, but I wanted to ask: Do you guys want specific roles in the squad outside of playing the actual game? Like, it's kind of unspoken by this point that I make our logos and do the newsletters and stuff. And Tony runs the youtube with Shiny's help. Do any of you want special roles or anything? I don't really even know what to suggest as far as roles go. I just thought I'd suggest it in case anyone had anything in mind.
That's all I've got. I'll hand the thread over to Tony in case he has any additional thoughts.
