Game 1 each team chooses 2 weapons the opponent must use in their comp
In subsequent games, the team that just won chooses 2 weapons the opponent must use, the losing team chooses 3.
Oh, and it's all rainmaker
So if you're wanting to improve in ranked with a certain weapon, the best thing you can do is play ranked. Rather than the game's result (win or loss), think about how YOU played, what you did well and what you can do better/think about for the next few games. You could also watch how top...
As someone who coaches a ton with splatoon: mindset is absolutely everything with this game, for both playing casually to have fun or competitively to improve.
If you get caught up thinking about a situation, try to think of what's in YOUR hands to make better. What could you do or change in...
This patch looks pretty good! It doesn't really seem to change much about what seems to be good from a high-level competitive standpoint, but some quality-of-life changes to lots of main weapons (like splattershot pro's painting ability and dynamo roller's white ink frames) and specials like...
Generally, anything that outranges splash can make its life harder. Very few weapons can outpaint a splash, but you can still prevent it from going into certain areas/splat it if you have more range than it. Bonus points if your weapon isn't crippled when a burst bomb is thrown at it (for...
Here's the post for joining a team! Good luck and have fun if you decide to pursue competitive further, you definitely seem to have the desire/drive!!

If you're wanting to go competitive with this game, odds are that you're wanting to find a team, or consistent group of players, to practice and improve or have fun with. These are a couple places to get started looking, and also thinking about things that will help your team not have glaring...
I've been planning to make a post about that, I'll get on that now!
I want to mention one last thing with team comps: You can make a lot of comps that are NOT meta work. However: it's nice for a team comp to have something that can *answer* meta weapons. For instance, when splash was meta, you...
There's still a decent amount of variety in top level, in my opinion. Yeah ballpoint and tacticooler are seeing a lot more usage right now, but splash isn't required on any teams at this point. Much better than launch with almost every team being 1-2 sloshing machines and 2-3 splashes.
Brellas...
If I were to say one single resource that is the most helpful for a deeper look at the game's workings, it would have to be the website Sendou.ink. It cannot be overstated what this resource provides, so I just want to make a couple highlights of it below.
Salmonrun.ink is sort of this website...
Discord is helpful once you're in the community to have voice chats with teammates and arguably faster communication mid-tournament, but it is very very very isolating for the community. I feel like a hybrid squidboards + discord would be the best approach, but that also means getting...
Whether you want to get a casual tourney group together or to reach the top levels of play, a lot of the competitive scene is found playing in tournament. Below, I'm compiling a list of extremely good tourneys and organizations to join to continue your competitive journey. (If you don't have a...
Hey, I just saw this thread. I was planning on following a similar endeavor with PVP, as I'm involved in both tournament play and overfishing.
I think the primary resources for getting into OFing would probably just be their main Discord server and the HUGE resource document they have. Hazmy's...
You find this place, and that its last article (aside from new membership) is from before Splatoon 3 was even released. A few posts come up, but overall they're sparks from a past fire that's burnt out. This community definitely has a scene, so...where is it?
In the comp scene, it's known that...
