i still think most predictions as to what each team winning means for splatoon 4 take it too far tbh, my theory is that it'll affect the aesthetic and maybe the core message of the story mode but will not literally impact the time period the next game takes place in

(sincere answer: they're hinted at to have been at least friends before the great turf war broke out, a lot of folks see a sort of doomed romance story in that. also cuttlefish's "Isn't he cute?" line from s1 hero mode lol)
