Patch patch patch patch.
- Squeezer's nerfs are actually meaningful, I'm glad the range was the thing that got nerfed, cross map mobility death laser bad. The big thing about squeezer is it had a very easy time kiting every weapon in the game, it outranges everything, and it can keep its range advantage by just... strafing backwards, so that in particular is worse.
Also it technically makes squeezer a real good matchup for recycled brella, I'm not joking. Your shield let you get in range to actually fight the squeezer, and if you hit your two shots, you won that fight, but squeezer still had enough range to shred your shield before you'd get in range, and its strafe speed made it hard to hit. Now both of these got nerfed, W.
-Range nerf good, the blast radius always felt very forgiving, and you won't get painted over as easily for slow weapons. Also rip CRB being worse but also I don't care, bye annoying tc weapon.
- I'm mixed on the pencil change, I wish other backlines had a better chance of fighting it, but this means pencils won't be as good at just painting over the zone the whole game, that was incredibly annoying.
- I think slosher having worse ink efficiency is fair, from using it a bit, I don't think the ink efficiency ever felt like a problem, and considering how many things that weapon does well, I think it's warranted. 210p strikes is great too, they'll be worse at playing passively, which made them more annoying than they should be.
- I'm not the biggest fan of the hedit paint nerf, but it was really great at it, so now it'll have to play less passively, and it's an indirect buff to nzap, which I love to see.
- Wellstring paint nerf is weird but once again, nerfing passive play.
I think that's the pattern I really like, nintendo seems to specifically want to nerf staying back and force these meta weapons to fight more, which is good. It's pretty clear to me that nintendo wants the game to be fight heavy, which might be why they haven't nerfed carbon roller, vanilla roller, stamper, or tent. It seems like they want the meta to be more aggressive, which they might have accidentally figured out from seeing how s2 turned out and after cooler took over the game.
They keep buffing zap, they haven't nerfed cooler, and they're making all these weapons worse at safely poking at a distance. That's the biggest takeaway I'm getting from this patch, and it's great news to me.
The zooka startup nerf is cool btw, you'll have more time to take cover and it won't be as panickable, it's still insane but that's much healthier.
Overall really happy with this patch. I'm bummed they haven't nerfed strikes or .52, the latter's definitely going to dominate solo q, but they nerfed more things than I expected, in a good direction, I can't complain about that.
Netcode's better, indirect brella buff let's gooo.
I have more thoughts on the netcode change and X divisions, but zzzzz
