so i was thinking: Salmon Run can be really hard. in battles, the L button doesn't map to anything. so here's an idea: what if Salmon Run gave you one more sub weapon, mapped to the L button?
each teammate would get a different sub, the available subs would be:
  • curling bomb (for escapes and as self-defense by holding down the L button)
  • ink mine
  • splash wall (to stop Salmons from moving forward)
  • sprinkler (works surprisingly well against Jelletons, so it'll work against Salmons)
i'm not sure how it would work with the ink tank. maybe the tank capacity or ink refill would be increased.

ink mine and wall are not a good idea. wall takes a ton of ink, and can be easily destroyed by bosses. mine is too expensive and barely has an effect, but curling and sprinkler are good ideas. i'd replace mine with burst bomb, and just have the curling, splat, sprinkler, and burst.

I agree with @SAMICOM about mine: mine is more tactical than offensive. Curling Bomb would be cool but I think Splat Bomb alone is good and versatile enough. Wall would work if the enemies shot back: this is why Recycle Brella is better in SR than in PvP especially. Wall wouldn't protect against Stinger and Satan Missiles. Maybe a Steelhead bomb but that's doubtful.

However, I would have loved to see Ultra Stamp in SR. I honestly feel it is made for SR as an X tier Lesser Control plus smashing certain bosses. Double points if it pierces.

I think the Autobomb would be a great sub to use in Salmon Run. The point is that it would follow a boss that would be really hard to get with so many Salmonids, I can see it being especially useful against Steel Eels and Stingers as well as Scrappers.

that's a really cool idea, thing is they would have to make Autobomb faster and make it able to walk while about to explode since Scrappers and Steel Eels move a bit faster than it.

I do think more sub weapons should be available in Salmon Run, but they would have to make sure they all work, especially in accordance with Maws and Flyfish. They would probably have to make it so all main weapons can splat Flyfish.

Curling Bomb would be an obvious excellent option, as would Burst Bomb. Suction bomb would translate over extremely smoothly.
Fizzy Bomb could work, but chaining together its explosions against a horde of enemies is easier said than done.
Sprinkler and Ink Mine could work in theory with the right buffs, but they'd definitely be trickier.
Splash Wall would likely be extremely awkward, even if it has its use cases.
Torpedo, Autobomb, Point Sensor, and Angle Shooter all obviously wouldn't work due to location not working. Squid Beakon could possibly be interesting, but it wouldn't work with the lore.
Toxic Mist could work, but... no.

So, they could probably have Splat Bomb, Suction Bomb, Burst Bomb, Curling Bomb, Fizzy Bomb, and maybe also Ink Mine and Sprinkler be randomly allocated each shift, like specials are.

I like the idea of alternate bomb types, but this just adds another layer of unpredictability for freelancing I'd rather avoid. Maybe L could act as a toggle instead, cycling between a few bomb types? Splat Bomb, Curling Bomb and Burst Bomb are probably the best if the devs want to keep things as simple as possible.

Not much more to add that hasn't already been said otherwise. Splash Wall would probably end up being unappealing in most situations but I would absolutely love to see Sprinkler on the list, too.
