What kind of names and reskins for weapons would you like to see?
This just reminded me that I thought up alt kits, silly name and all, for every splatoon 1 weap last year for fun. Lemme see if I can’t translate some of my favorites into splat 2. I’ll include the original plan as well, just for kicks.
Slick Splattershot Jr.
[Duct-taped together design accent]
-Curling Bombs
-Splat Bomb Launcher
(Seekers + Seeker Rush)
I’d be cool to have a splattershot jr that is mobile and can control an area with a bomb rush. I didn’t give it curling launcher because I’m trying to keep with splatoon 2’s convention of a kit’s launcher never being the same bomb as its sub.
Crafty Splattershot
[Primarily orange and purple recolor]
-Splash Wall
-Inkstorm
(Splash Wall + Killer Wail)
This weapon was made to try and hold choke points and aid allies in pushes.
Tricky Splattershot Pro
[Primarily turquoise and dark blue recolor]
-Sprinkler
-Splashdown
(Sprinkler + Kraken)
This weapon, while rather ink-hungry, grants a decent panic button for escapes or fending off an attacker. The sprinkler aids in charging this special so that people need to be careful about trying to get the drop on you.
Rook Jet Squelcher
[Black recolor]
-Point Sensors
-Ink Armor
(Point Sensors + Bubbler)
This set was meant to aid those who like to bully players out of territory and lay suppressing fire. It also aids the team with the point sensors in addition to helping its own aim. The ink armor would allow for escape/survival or help your team capitalize on an advantage.
Knight Dualie (Dual) Squelchers
[White recolor]
-Ink Mines
-Inkjet
(Ink Mines + Inkzooka)
This weapon can use its mines to keep turf and locate flankers, then pick them off with its fire. In addition, the inkjet provides a way to help push into enemy territory. If successful, ink mines can be placed on the front lines to further aid yourself and your team.
Tentacles Splat Roller
[Branded by the “Tentacles” sports team logo (as seen on the Tentacles Helmet in Splatoon 1)]
-Point Sensors
-Bubble Blower
(Point Sensors + Bubbler)
This weapon can be used to support teammates, as well as locate enemies to catch them off-guard or sneak up on them. The bubble blower can help shield your team or capture turf. This is a very support-based roller, which I was interested in after playing the corocoro roller in splatoon 1.
Gastro Splat Charger
[Blue (in splatoon 1; I guess to look different in this game it would have to be green!) and has little sea slug ornament on top of the barrel]
-Curling Bombs
-Burst Bomb Launcher
(Burst Bombs + Inkzooka)
This weapon was originally meant to be equipped with a weapon for any range; however burst bombs on a charger has been universally panned as too OP and I can understand why. So for the sake of balance I would give it curling bombs. Colliding with someone can get in some chip damage, and if you know someone is approaching you can cook a bomb to KO at close range! The burst bomb launcher could be used as a panic button at short range, and also tossed long-range to finish off people who you may have almost-killed with a less than full charge. In addition to the obvious use of capturing turf, of course.
