Hello!

After celebrating the birthdays of some folks close to me and seeing the success of the recently held DzNutsKup, I was struck with an idea.
My own birthday is coming up. What if I organised a birthday tournament with a gimmick?
The gimmick rules for my tournament are:

1. All team compositions must have a minimum of 2 Splatlings in them
2. All chargers are banned

more information will be posted on the event page when that is made.

I have done a bit of work towards making this a reality already, however before I fully go ahead with this I need to decide the time and date.
Time is easy, I will hold it at 2 pm EST as that would be the easiest for both EU and US people. The date is a bit difficult though.
My birthday is on November 28th, which according to Google happens to coincide with american thanksgiving. More importantly it's a Thursday. It would be near impossible to hold a tournament for both EU and US timezones on a weekday. I'm thinking that I could probably hold it on the 30th, but the americans might still be travelling over the weekend.

And so my question to you is: What is the date that would work for you?

Do we hold it earlier? Later? Is this the worst possible time to hold a tournament? :DDDDDD

i specifically am still at work for another hour on saturdays at 2 est but my work schedule is weird and shouldn’t be bent over backwards for. and plus my team could probably just find a sub for the approximately 1 hour 10 minutes i wouldn’t be around

I believe 30th of november works for me! I might actually be back on the game by then? At least I hope it'd work.
(Though if you'd need to reschedule the tournament, I'd rather it take place later than earlier, date wise)

In my opinion don't force people to play quad Splatling teams. Maybe you can encourage it and leave the option open like right now but part of me would be afraid there's someone who doesn't like them or only really wants to play their one main weapon. Wouldn't be worth singling those people out and basically soft-banning them from joining, y'know?

Primary reason is to not shut out people that dont play Splatlings at all or have no interest to.
Me, I'm capital B Bad at Dualies. So even if it's a fun gimmick tourney, it would take a lot to convince me to join a Dualies-only tournament.
Of course you're more than welcome to go quad-Splatling if you so wish and the maplist will be Splatling-favoured.

The most obvious thing to me is if there's a prize for winning the tournament, then an equal prize would go to the highest-placing team that goes quad Splatling the whole tournament. Meme factor is something in itself too but beyond that I can't immediately think of anything. It'd take some thought for sure.

I would absolutely 100% shout it out on stream for sure at least.
Problem is the streaming part. I have no way of recording my switch gameplay (the curse of switch lite). I am already recruiting DzNutsKong to help me out with the tourney, but he might not be able to stream it for me. I got a couple more people to ask, but also if anyone wants to volunteer, hit me up

Question: How big do ya predict the tournament to be, and how would you structure it? I'm not too good at Splatoon 3, but I'd find it funny to pend time mowing through a front line with crab edit or something.

On the topic of tournament dates, the weekend afteryour birthday will work for me.

Definitely not very big at all. At most it'll as big as DzNutsKup before it, so with 8 teams participating. But since this is a gimmick tourney and because it is happening close to a holiday, I am expecting there to be less participants.

If we do end up with 8 teams, I'll just copy DzNutsKup format as that's what a good chunk of people are now familiar with. So a round robin with a final elimination bracket. If there's less, then depending on the amount I'll go with a double elimination bracket. Matches will be best of 3s. I'll try to avoid having people deal with a bye round as that'd be a little boring in a small tourney like this.

I'm interested about that (my main are splatlings :)) and i could play in that day, but can I participate even if I don't have a team? Maybe finding someone else that doesn't have a team

There will be solo registration. Solo players will have to answer a questionnaire upon registration that I'll use to pair people together.
