I feel like flingza doesn't fall into that category, and it's one of the weapons you have said you like ink mine on.

Well, see, the thing is… they haven’t actually put Ink Mine on anything it’s really good for yet. Except maybe Ballpoint, but that thing really hurts because of its disgusting special and its missing Beakon.

The perfect weapon for Ink Mine, as far as I have seen so far, is Bloblobber. Ultimately, the sub is good on weapons that work well with Wave Breaker due to having the same location and combo damage, with a few exceptions like Range Blaster that need bombs for decent paint.

It also works well for long-range weapons that really like location effects, like E-liter, hence why the sub is considered good for that weapon despite its damage being nearly useless for it. Mine would probably be the best sub for Pencil, when you think about it.

The main issue is that you want to place the sub in a forward position and follow up on it at a distance. Backlines don’t get into good positions to place Mines unless you they’re pushing forward, and frontlines don’t get into good positions to play off of them. Hence why it works well for a more aggressive anchor like Bloblobber that also happens to combo off of its damage and be a slosher that likes location effects.

The sub is decent on mobile midline weapons like Nova but it needs to combo well with them to work optimally. Mine is fine on Nova but there’s no difference in shots required to kill following up on the Mine’s direct versus its indirect. It would work really well on Squelchers due to how they’re similarly mobile and long-ranged, and combo better with it. Same deal with Nautilus.

I’m going to have to make a chart…

only time I ever use ink mine Is on the tower or doing a meme build With Max bomb power up.
Very tasteful meme build. I too love nuclear Ink Mines.
Considering you primarily play in-your-face frontline weapons, I can see Ink Mine not being very appealing. Though it would probably be a bit more useful than Beakon on Sploosh's Neo kit.

Yeah, I can see That but if it ever got a special like triple Splashtown, I think They would prefer to put becon on that weapon

Wail feels absolutely terrible to fight as a slow weapon, but I can completely ignore it when I play things like shooters. And I don't like it. It shouldn't be that unbalanced.

Yeah, that's the biggest problem with the special. I wonder if the devs would change it so the wails fire to either side of a target, limiting players' perpendicular movement, but not affecting immobile weapons. Probably not, since that would be the kind of change made between games, and I don't see 5.1 coming back in Splatoon 4.

I'm still not sure on how I feel about the damage buff it received.
It's been a long time since then so I'm used to it now but did it really need to be better? I'm not a fan of how it can just be used anywhere but it wasn't particularly relevant or consistent before and it's still better designed than Tenta Missiles.
Obviously I'd prefer an entire rework but that's not going to happen in S3.

Agreed but wail It's kind of like torp In the fact that you either take the damage or get distracted by it Either way you lose and the attacker wins Though it's Only really effective on something like tower or when they're Coming at different angles

Torp also disproportionately affects weapons with lots of endlag and slow fire rate. So the comparison is accurate, but it's not increasing my opinion of wail. Although at this point I really don't know what will; it's just not fun to fight.

The special was pretty non-threatening before that buff. The odds of it getting a splat all on its own were near zero. I'll let you decide whether you think that was a good thing or not.

Personally I don't really care about the buff, I don't mind it and think it's OK. Slow weapons can play around Wails fine if they're smart about it, and they're not nothing to faster weapons either. The fact that the wails will punish you for being careless is something to make it a lot more balanced in my opinion, so the question is whether the special should be balanced or worthless, and that requires thinking about the weapons it's on and then you're into complicated territory.

I think Wails are in a fine spot and the damage buff contributes a lot to that. They shouldn't get any more buffs as of now, but those it has are fine.

You won’t win without a cleverly crafted battle strategy. Single characters have no chance of victory.
