The next Big Run is set to take place at the Grand Festival Arena where it is also a Golden Weapon Rotation! The reward will be the Mr. Grizz radio!

Not only that but there will also be a huge worldwide cooperative prize as well for all of the total deposited Golden Eggs during the Big Run.

That also explains why the Golden Roto happened earlier than usual!

ah there goes my 'one of the three days of splatfest is actually big run set in the hubs' theory. that does make me wonder again how they're gonna stretch out splatfest to three days & what the watsonian explanation for literally not being able to go back to the plazas will be... but despite all of that i'm still hyped for the big run we are getting

funny enough the "there's one egg count and we're all trying to get to a certain quota collectively" is how i always kinda thought big run should work - i didn't really mind how big run was, i was never like oh woe is me the Overfishers™ are ruining the game by driving the gold quota up, but it just kinda struck me as weird that the cooperative mode's special event didn't have a cooperative goal? though then i worked at walmart and went Oh i get it this is a metaphor for capitalism

"We're all in this together" is the propaganda narrative that gets the communist war economy up to speed and producing lots of weapons 👍:

The global quota is a little funny to me, because Nintendo's going to set it at a number that is guaranteed to get met. They wouldn't dare risk not distributing the prize. So it's just going to be a formality really.

actually this is the other thing i was wondering - i agree with you and doubt the quota's going to be anything too ridiculous, i have no doubts we'll be able to meet it, but what if? like, what would they do if we didn't hit the quota?? like that'd just be kind of a let-down just before finalfest

unless they have big alternate plans...

Wasn’t there another game a couple years ago – I think it was Pokemon? – where Nintendo set a global challenge, and the target number they set was absolutely comically wrong. Like the players didn’t even come close.

edit: Yeah! It was Pokemon Sun and Moon. The Pokémon Company set a challenge to have players all around the world catch 100 million Pokémon, and the final total was 16 million.

Funny, but it should be noted that that was the first ever Global Mission at Sun/Moon's launch, meaning Game Freak had no data yet and had to guess. Nintendo has almost surely been gathering data from every Big Run up until now, they know how much grinding the playerbase does, and they even know the trendline from one Big Run to the next. They can make a very reliable prediction of what the total will be.
